Default DIY Controller Using Arcade Controller Interface

i am looking into building a DIY controller, a bit like the MIDI Fighter, using this interface :
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PC-PS3-USB...item3f1db77104

i would then use Fergo JoystickMidi to use it with traktor

i was thinking if there was any possibility of using rotary encoders or pots with this interface, or would i need a different one?

It says 2 joysticks - that's four rotary potentiometers. Not so sure about connecting rotary encoders.

Make sure your pots are 10k. Read manual and see which of the connections are analog inputs.

so the analog inputs are pots, and digital are switches/buttons?

The schematic is a bit unclear - I would check that the joystick inputs are analogue.
Some of those arcade controllers use key presses as joystick movements.
