Hi All,
I am thinking about buying full Ableton(8+free upgrade to 9), because now everyone can have 25% off. What version do you recommend me, normal or suite?
normal vs suite (price in EUR):
262 vs 412 (normal present price) 224 vs 374 (my upgrade price)
(374-224=150)
Is good idea to invest 150Eur to Suite version of Ableton?
Do I need Max4Live? (How often do you use it?)
Do I need Analog/Collision/Electric/Operator/Sampler/Tenstion? (How often do you use it?)

I use Max4Live a lot. Max for Live is a big deal and I think the community will grow with it being part of suite 9.
If you have VSTs, especially Komplete 8, then you probably don’t need analog, collision, electric, operator, sampler, or tension. They are really nice, though. I use Analog, Collision, and Operator quite a bit. Sampler is great, but just has nothing on Kontakt. Electric is fine but there are better electric pianos out there, especially those for Kontakt like Vintage Organs (NI), Broken Wurli (Sonniccouture), and others. In my case, tension falls into disuse.
There is really a lot of sample content that comes with the new Suite, some of which I have already and can vouch for.
sampler is great not only as an instrument but using it to store 128 samples(kick drums) and browsing them extremely quickly check out this concept (128’s by Ill.gates). analog and operator also sound great
Haven’t decided yet on max4live. But I’m not gonna buy suite as I’m buying maschine instead and sticking with massive. Learn to master one vst before moving onto others.
..or atleast that’s the plan, and i’ll get struck by gear lust.
There’s a LOT of bitching going on in the forum post that was linked earlier to Ableton’s forums. I’m sure there will be SOMETHING for Live 8 Suite owners to upgrade to 9’s suite + Push. Anyway I really hope so.
it is bundled now. im still hoping for a cheaper price on the upgrade. i do want push also. ive seen some sites saying feb 9th as a release date. hope so.
1.- Max for live provides tons of usefull stuff, midi effects, sequencers and functionality along controllers.
2.- Operator is quite a good synth, also very low on CPU its integration when using instrument racks is also very usefull. Think of ableton native instruments anf fx as building blocks for more complex stuff.
3.- The new libraries include a decent orchestra and a high quality sound design one for techno (the forge).
Now about maschine…I believe that maschine overlaps with drum racks in Live, and now with push you just get many of that kind of functionality inside live. For me Maschine while very good on other DAW’s in Live it just add a layer of complexity that is not needed.
I’m with you on Max for Live - I’m a huge Max fan/nerd. I <3 Maschines though. Maschine’s sampler is the one of the very best around (second only to Kontakt for me) and they might be the single best controllers on the market.
anyone think the guitar center date of 2-10-13 for Push shipping out sound wrong. I saw another site that said April 1st. Would be pretty sweet if it were next weekend,.
