Revised Ableton APC40 DJ template for July
Attached is the latest version with a whole heap of revisions since I first posted including Monitor / Master Mix.
Midi stroke is mainly used for just my quantize settings as I flip between nudge and play mode alot things start going outta sync otherwise the way I have it set up is below .. I’d post my prefs but I know for a fact my CC’s are quite unique in the APC world.
APC Settings
As before channels:
1-4 = Play tracks
5-8 = Record / Sample tracks
I’ve ditched all the record/arm buttons from being controlled with the APC
Stop = Loop In selected track
Rec = Loop Out selected track
Play = Loop Off selected track
Track Selection = Actual Playing Track (as opposed to channel selection only)
Clip Stop = FX on/off
REC/ARM = Clip Stop
Cue / Solo = CUE
Cue Level = Headphone Master / Cue Mix (for in headphone cue/mix).
Track Control Pan Selected = BASS/GAIN
Track Control Send A Selected = Mid Top
Faders 1/5 2/6 3/7 4/8 are linked to faders 1-4
Faders 5-8 are still able to be independently controlled… my reasoning for this is simple… 5-8 are FX / sample decks which will in all likelyhood be the same level normally as 1-4 if Its being used for FX. if being used for loops they have independent control. Its just one less fader to have to level out.
MidiStroke settings
sorry I cant post the midikey settings but you can get an idea of what I’m using them for and its easy enough to set up once you know the CC values.
Scene Launch 1/5 are scroll up/down the Grid
Scene Launch 2-4 are Quantize 1, 1/4, 1/8
Loop is set to Quantize 1 Bar
Nudge is set to No Quantize
All grid keys are mapped to 1 Bar & Follow mode.
Hope it might give someone a starting point.
Just a heads up - there is no headphone cue volume mapped, I generally keep things at the same level and figured the split was worth more to me than a volume.
You can change the master on headphone level using the split cue rack in the master if you need to.
Next on the list is some funky one button FX
