Ableton Warping

Ableton Warping

Is there a good easy to interpret guide for ableton warping?

I can’t seem to get it right no matter how many times i try… lot’s of people say it’s easy to do once you know how to do it, but I can’t seem to get over the initial hurdle of “learnin how”…

I’m eagerly awaiting the ableton 8 as it looks like they’ve improved the user-friendliness of this feature… but for now I’m lost.

help? anybody? lol

go to youtube and type in warping tuturol, i am very good at warping so whats the problem you have with warping maybe i can help you.

the main thing to remember is that everythin is in 4s

Vinkallmans guide to warping is exactly what you need until Live 8 comes out with it’s more intuitive warping engine!

Hey S4racen - fancy meeting you here! You’re right - I’m really looking forward to the new warp methods. Being able to actually stretch the waveform to the markers is gonna make it a whole lot easier for beginners…

hmm thanks for the info guys… after lookin at some of the vids it might be in my best interests to hold tight until the ableton8 release..
there’s not much sense in clocking hours into learning a technique that will soon be obsolete.

get stuck in … its using it more and more that makes you better

i dont see how stretching the wave form is any different to stretching or moving warp markers …

… stop all this putting it off roll your sleeves up and get in there

i feel you on that mr.moley just go ahead and learn it. its still the same concept

Word of advice, be sure you let Ableton fully analyze the song you are wanting to warp before you actually hit the “Warp” button or else your Seg. BPM will automatically set itself to what the global groove tempo is and therefore throwing off your warping right from the get go. I had that happen to me a few times before I figured out what the hell I was doing wrong. Btw what kinda music are you trying to warp cus EDM should really be easy.

Thats what I call 911. The response is quicker than L.A. county’s 911 system

DJ TT 911 Service this is operator JesC whats your emergency?

I dont even mess with calling 911, I just called the LAPD directly and they’ll be here in less than 5 mins

everything but EDM… i wouldn’t waste my time warping genres that can be manually beatmatched/mixed without warping.

i want to warp genres with inconsistent rhythm/percussion/bpm so that they’re easier to mix. Like Classic Rock for example.

…but with ableton you have to warp everything to use it as a dj tool so start simple get the idea with some tight electronic beats and once confident move onto the hard stuff

I use the warp in ableton for my new wave/post punk that was recorded live, like the smiths, the cure, joy division, bmovie and so on.

oh i just want to warp my songs so that when I export them from Ableton, they have a set bpm to make for easier mixing in Traktor.
cheers
