Mixing on pancakes like a boss.

Mixing on pancakes like a boss.
That makes no sense what so ever. Its like saying a kettle is pointless because you can boil water on the stove in a saucepan. You could say the same but the other way round… Whats the point in controllers they just allow you to play music, you might as well use turntables… Just because you use a controller (like I do) doesn’t make something else pointless. It just makes it something that YOU choose not to use.
I buy a bunch of vinyl only releases. There is a solid benefit to playing an actual record on a turntable and not a controller.
“A-B mixing” seems to be the new catchcry for the fuckheads around here.
A-B mixing intended as : playing a whole track, mixing, playing another whole track, and so on and so on.
If you see benefit in vinyl, well, that’s your thing. Does it have a different feeling than loading a track from a folder? fuck yeah! Going to the record store, taking your time to carefully select your records, digging in the vinyl crate, feeling something in your hands, preparing the disc, lowering the needle. Yes, it’s definitely more tactile than browsing with a knob and pressing a button to load .
But what bugs me (and the guy in the video) is that many believe people who spin wax should be given more respect a priori.
Should bl3nd be given more respect than AZ since he mixes with vinyl?
I would be surprised if Dj blend even owns a non time code record.
Ok you have a point..
you are pointless
the guy summed it up nicely: ‘shut the fuck up and go with the masses’
that’s not mixing
So many antagonistic people on here
It is.
Load next song in your preprepared playlist, Press sync, wait for final breakdown and crossfade to the other track.
that’s just playing tunes with a crossfader flick.
you don’t even need sync
You’re missing the point…
some people who use vinyl just do so because vinyl is cool and hip and “real dj’s” are using it. They don’t use vinyl to its fullest, they just mix tracks just as well as they could with a mouse and a computer.
I’m not hating on vinyl. I’m just saying that i find buying an expensive 2tt+mixer (+eventually timecode hardware) for that kind of mixing, just because it makes you look cool, stupid and cost ineffective, and that a little controller for 200$ would suffice for that kind of task.
Agreed. Not only that but a lot of people cannot discuss a topic without being purposely curt and obnoxious like their own shit don’t stink.
The one thing that people on DJTT seem forget is that DJ’s using vinyl, be it timecode or records do it for one MASSIVE reason.
Tactile Control.
Fuck being ‘cool’. Fuck the ‘task’. Fuck the fact that it can be done so much cheaper with a small setup like a controller.
I genuinely cannot say I know of anyone that has got into vinyl because they think it makes them cool.
This is a massive lie perpetuated by people that do not use vinyl to justify controllerism when they don’t need to justify anything. Just do what you like.
It is exactly the same as the idiot morons that perpetuate the myth that people only by Macs cus they think it makes them look cool. Fuck off. That is stupid. Stop being so self righteous.
If you are happy pressing a button. Do it. Fuck knows I love my controllers (all 12 of them).
If you are happy using a record, just do it. I love my 1210’s and my record collection.
This argument is so fucking retarded.
DJTT is like dog chasing its tail at the moment and it is boring me.
So? It has nothing to do with what MEDIA the tune is on. I have TONS of Hip-Hop vinyl from the 80’s, but I haven’t played any of 'em for over 5 years. But I’ve played the tunes on that vinyl many times in DJ Decks with timecode. (I’ve ripped 'em!)
You don’t get credit for owning pieces of vinyl. You get credit for owning amazing tunes.
The man speaks the truth.
This WHOLE argument right here is my issue with CDJs. Vinyl has tactile control, CDJs do not. In this day and age, I can understand people still using Vinyl for whatever they want to do with it - although I DO still think it offers you less capabilities than Traktor, unless you’re a turntablist - because it does, at least, offer ONE benefit over MIDI controllers. CDJs offer nothing, which is why I just can’t understand using them now.
Of course it’s because of the tracks, but we weren’t talking about that.
They offer… market dominance.
That’s the whole deal with cdj’s, as far as i understand.
Well that’s my point isn’t it? Their position is based on their name, not the actual capabilities of the unit.
