Another iPad DJ....? JesC on the iPad

Another iPad DJ…? JesC on the iPad

First off, I made this video on my iphone, so sorry its not in HD. Plus its kinda hard to record and dj at the same time. So the mixes are a little off.

Im using the TouchOSC on the iPad, Macbook Pro using Traktor 3.4 and Im using OSCulator to translate OSC to MIDI.

Music

REM - Losing My Religion (DJ Kue Remix)
Human League - Sound of the Crowd (Triscos Popclash)
The Smiths - There is a light that never goes out (Josh Patrick Remix)

A big thanks to DJTechTools! Bento, Tekki, Dvls and Ean for showing me the ins and outs of midi and digital djing!

Note: No baby kittens were hurt during the shoot of this video. :eek

Cool:slight_smile:

nice video..thanks for showing us some real mixing on the ipad. Looks fun.

go team Jesc !

Cool stuff. Only if the ipad had a sound card–seems weird having two LCDs

Once I get a hold of a HD cam I will do a whole video on how it works. Plus I like using the iPad as a slave unit, I dont think is has enough muscle to run traktor. If NI made a Traktor Lite version, 2 decks, 3 fx (echo, flanger, beatmasher) this would be a killer app.

Nice! Is the iPad connected via wireless or can you hook it up with a USB cable or something?

Its wireless. I know that the iPad does have problems connection to the internet via wifi, but when you create your own network you dont have any issues.

I’m excited to see what is being developed for the iPad. Hopefully someday we can get somewhat of a Lemur app or Monome app.

Impressive stuff though JesC

TouchOSC is a great app. You can get some serious stuff done. The template Im using in this video was made in 1 hour. So it still have alot of fine tuning ahead. It would be nice to see a Lemur app, and Ill be honest I would pay alot of money to use it.

I’ve been telling the guys over at Jazzmutant that, along with many others, but no word on it. It just makes sense. Either that, or TouchOSC needs to get a little more developed, and you could do the same stuff with it.

i don’t see any indication that jazzmutant has any interest in bypassing their hardware solutions and develop software for another companies hardware…it’s a strange world so anything is possible but i think they’ve got their own thing going on.

there was a good article about jazzmutant (they changed names, can’t remember to what) on createdigitalmusic awhile ago…

personally i would be more interested in the ipad stuff if/when you don’t have to use wireless to connect.

looking forward to the HD videos, please don’t take my post the wrong way.

this is sweet Jes, and I have an HD camera so give me a call. very cool setup.

nice video!
should be getting the ipad this weekend! could you share the touch osc template =DDDDDDDD puhhhhhleeeeezeeeeeee lol

Wow JesC!

It works even nicer than I would have imagined it would work!

Awesome-ness and ofcourse much respect, as, unlike other so called iPad DJs, you are the real deal!
