I think electro house is more housey and blog house is more electro. It sort of goes in the direction of nudisco and electropunk kinda stuff. (I’m absolutely no expert on subgenres tho but that’s how it fits in my head)
Meh, I guess I can see a point there. Completely splitting split hairs though.
well, it’s actually difficult nowadays to tell the genre of a song. that’s why I’ve managed my iTunes library by genres like Electrock and Downtronic
These are definitions which I understand and that’s the most important thing imho.
Wiki have removed the definition of Blog House on the grounds that its “nonesense and had no tangible basis” Honestly i read it. bizzarre!
Its just Balearic Rare House that people post up on Blogs like American Athlete and Love Fingers and other people steal . Nothing more specific than that.
I know some DJs that get all their music from such blogs, i dont think they ever buy music. Naughty boys. !
Beats In Space is a great resource for this kind of stuff and they post up the track listings so you can actually BUY the music..! Quite right too.
Slight Thread highjack so back to the topic.
Killers - Human (Thin White Duke Remix) its good un.
Vampire Weekend - Walcott (Insane Mix) odd but worth a listen.
Thanks for the input guys, love the tracks. I have some more tracks to share…
This next song if a fucken JEM! I met these guys thru a fellow dj friend this past halloween, they are called Ashbury (No longer together) but they have a cult following here in L.A., they sound like bravery/she wants revenge.
http://www.myspace.com/ashburymusic - check out the song “Profile”
B-Movie - Nowhere Girl (not the single or extended) Its the first press its very dark and goes perfect with anything with a indie rock sound @ 150 BPM you can find the track on this album Remembrance Day - The Dead Good Years, here is a alternate verison made back in 1981
Alot of you may already have this track, but its The Killers - Shadowplay this is a Joy Division Cover.
Also Crystal Castles - Lover Who Uncover (Little Ones) Nice track, dirty bassline & clean guitar loop.
Ill post some more songs in a bit.
Here is a edit that I did of Interpol - Slow Hands (EDIT)
what I did was warp it in ableton and added a kick/hihat to the guitar intro.
if you guys can hear it, ill post it on youtube

Great thread! Lots of good stuff posted here. Have to go and check out my library for some tunes to add here. ![]()
What comes to subgenres, as byzantine said, it’s hard to distuingish one from another. Definitions are always needed in languages so people could speak about things, but I’ve also created my own genres by which I divide the music. I listen the song and just listen my intuition: which group does this song belong to in my mind?
That way I know that atleast at some point I’ve FELT that the song is good and it fits to among those songs. So while playing a set and if I can’t totally remember what the song was I have no worries since it should be good and it should atleast some way fit to other songs in the same category.
I have a small gig on monday and I’m sure I’ll get some insipration out of these songs. ![]()
Thats good to hear Aanrii, be sure to post some of the tracks that are banging in Finland. I always like to get tracks that are big in Europe, before the hit in the states. Ill post some on my stuff soon. I just hope this thread doesnt die.
Well, I’m not maybe the spokesperson for what’s hot in Finland atm, but as the opportunity (and a request
)to put some Finns on the map arises I’ll take advantage of it.
These might get a bit electroish but good stuff anyway and fits to what’s been presented here already.
Finnish band (don’t let the name fool you
):
Le Corps Mince De Francoise - Ray-Ban Glasses (Les Gillettes Remix) [Your mix for the dance floor]
Le Corps Mince De Francoise - Bitch Of The Bitches (Russ Chimes Remix) [with Russ’s ‘trademark’ synths. <3]
Off topic but has to be said when le corps is mentioned.
Absolutely delightful. ![]()
Le Corps Mince De Francoise - Ray-Ban Glasses (Acoustic Winter Mix)
Other stuff I’ve enjoyed recently:
Little Boots - Stuck On Repeat (Fake Blood Remix)
Kaiser Chiefs - Never Miss A Beat (Cut Copy Remix)
Gang Gang Dance - House Jam (XXXchange Remix)
CSS - Let’s Make Love and Listen To Death From Above (Calvin Harris Remix)
La Roux - Quicksand
My small contribution for now atleast.
lol, blog house is a a bs derogatory name! some of the best tracks I have ever heard and got have come from blogs. I wouldn’t class it as a genre but as a way of getting music, legit or not. It is mostly electro though that is for sure, and often they are remixes.
I dig blogs as hard as I would dig at a record store any-day. Maybe not quite but you get the idea. I don’t think I could get the tracks on the net on vinyl in my town without paying through the tooth for a promo import. i.e. Fred Falke remixes.
gosh, I don’t even know if I am reply to the right post anymore…seriously, the interwebs are moving so fast these days.
Thanks Aanrii, but you are my official music rep from Finland. I would recommend looking stuff up from this remixer/dj. The goes by Josh Patrick and has alot of remixes. www.JoshPatrick.com. He has some good remixes of Interpol and Black Tie Dynasty. Alot of his tracks are hard to get outside on L.A., I’ve talked to him online and he told me that a double cd with all his mixes is coming out soon.
Just trying to bring an old thread back to life… anyone have any new indie elctro cuts they are rocking right now?
I like Black Devil Disco and the Chromatics. Not quite Brit Pop Indy, but nice.
Others:
Orange Crush
School of Seven Bells
Cut Copy
The Knife
Caribou
Clinic
the Lilys
