Any recommendations for learning basic music theory for electronic music production?

I want to give production another shot and I have always felt handicapped by having no real music background and kind of getting lost with music theory. Are there any good video lessons and guides I should look at?

Take weekly piano lessons and practice. Best way to do it in my opinion.

I personally just futsed around until I understood what sounded good :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m Currently reading this…

How is it? Been thinking about picking this up.

From knowing basically nothing about music theory it is a really good overview. I’m only about a third through it right now and there are areas which i will go elsewhere to go deeper into.

I just finished the chapter on intervals and its about 3 pages long. I’m going to look elsewhere for more info. Im expecting the same once i get to progressions too

Hey Xonetacular I’m in the same boat and found this site the other night!

I took the time to learn the program I decided to use for Production,

And just experimented with what sounded good and what didn’t as far as notes
go.

But If your able to do piano lessons and or music theory classes, More power to yah
