Any thoughts on touch screen Laptops with Traktor Pro?

Hi

I’ve always been into controllerism and have performed live electronic music using decks and 4 FX with live musicians.

I’m getting back into it

So i got a Reloop Digital Jockey 2 and traktor PRO

I’m using on my PC but I’m looking to get a laptop.

Would touch screen be any good?

My thoughts are after 2 days of jamming on the Digital Jockey2 and PC

A touch screen laptop would fall over if not in the kind of flat tablet form. and in this form the use of the laptop keyboard would be inaccessible. like F key functions etc

but touch screen might make a lot of he features accessible

Also the price would be more, and I dont know what kind of thing i would be looking for for a laptop to perform with. some touch screen are probably much better than others.

also a laptop flat down in tablet for could get something spilled on it more easily at a gig.

What kind of things should i consider for a DJ/controllerism laptop.

Is touch screen any good.

I’d say forget the touchscreen, and spend the extra money you’ll save on a midi controller or two that suits your needs.

i kind of know what your saying

I’ve got reloop digital jockey 2 and akai lpd8

but some of the traktor function seem to require a bit of mousing.

I’m not a fan of touch screen as a control surface , i had a kaoss pad before i didn’t really like it.

I’m looking at laptops tomorrow

what brands are best for digital djs controllerism.

anything i should consider
like 3 plus usb ports
battery life?

DONT DO IT!!! trust me, I tried, had a 15" HP tablet PC, it sounds great, but then when you try to use it, it never works as planned. I ended up ebaying mine and got a 15" envy instead, so much better.

i might sack the idea off then

I hate it when i battle with something for a few weeks then have to sell it on.

so what should i look for in a laptop these days for digital dj/controllerism?

a Macbook pro is the answer

MBP and you’re good to go

cheers but i’m not a big mac fan

I’m more of a PC person:smiley:

HP Envy, its the redeployment of the voodoo PC

here’s mine that i got for 2300:

Core i7 720qm (1.6 Ghz, boost to 2.8)
6GB DDR3
2x 160GB SSD hard drives
USB 3.0 (3 ports)
E-sata
HDMI out
15" HD display (1920x1080)
gigabit ethernet
Windows 7 Pro

this thing screams with traktor on it, I haven’t had a single issue and I’ve been djing with it for almost 6 months now

i see the appeal of touch screen for the laptop, but the more i think about it the less point i see in it tbh

i might start a new thread to recommend me a laptop so this can still be about touchscreens

From a non mac fan to a convert come over to the dark side they are great .I will pearsonly never use anything else but a mac for my djing , not one issue

I know what your saying

they feel nice and look nice

but a £800 laptop… is £1400 if its a Mac :eek::eek:

I’m not doing that

I got a bit of a “Mac attack” for 2 different sales man at the retail park

one said he used traktor and i said “cool what controller have you got”

he said he couldn’t afford one after he got his laptop :stuck_out_tongue:

I hear you ,I saved up a few months for mine suffered untill it came but i did it . No regrets
