It’s more precise so you will notice a difference even in scrubbing through a track, especially if you’re looking for a specific spot.
Audio 8/10 and 2 x X1s then and use house mixer. Compact set up, 4 decks, nuff control…
Plenty a big name Dj do that… off the top of my head Pete Tong and Deadmaus. 
That’s a good shout. I rarely ever use more than two decks anyway so maybe my X1 and A2DJ is enough for now. I think I’ll miss having jog wheels and pitch faders though.

I am a 3 week owner of the Denon MC6000. I knew I wanted to use a Traktor controller. I was debating between the S4 and MC6K. I was leaning toward the S4 until I went to try it at the local Guitar Center. The difference in build quality is clear as night and day. The MC6K is solid metal construction. Sliders, eq knobs, platter feel great. I’m sorry, but the S4 feels so chinsy/plastic like that it really turned me off.
I have chubby fingers and people complain about how the MC6K is cramped, but I have to disagree. The buttons are big. I can tweak two eq knobs next to each other at the same time. You just have to find a place to try one.
REMEMBER: the unit might be a cheaper than the S4, but you have to buy a copy of TP2 on top of it.
As for mappings, with the release of TP2, the Denon MC6K can be configured between 2/4-decks or 2 decks and 2 sample decks (4 samples each deck) w/2 FX modules, 4 predefined cues. That is the default. But there is a user defined mapping out in the open that brings the TP2 functionality to the MC6K that goes beyond this. This is what I have loaded, I don’t have to switch between decks to access my samples, 8 queue points per deck, 4 FX modules, and a handful of other user improvements.

If you are utilizing all 4 decks, the crossfader is actually controlling the software fader. The latency isn’t noticeable to me, but i’m told it can be measured and tweaked for scratching. There are some Youtube vids on this.
This is not possible in 4 deck mode.
Yes…its is like a car..you need to take it for a test drive to really see how it feels.
I was really pulling for the S4. But was also put off by the plastic build. i was aggressively using the x-fader and some of the channel volume controls and did not like the fact that the controller was moving on the table or easily picked up when the slider pushed forward. The layout of the S4 is tons better than the layout of the MC6000. The S4 is ideal for the controllerist punching sample and cue buttons. They are completely out of the way of the jogs. Now this doesn’t mean you can’t adapt to what MC6K has set up.
The user map that is released with documentation really makes the MC6K shine.

I’m saving some cash to get a mc6000…mainly bc the build quality and stand alone mixer options. It felt heavier then 10lbs when I picked it up at gc but it is built better and with the option to do video its an easy decision.
If you computer crashes…its a reg mixer no issues
BOOTH OUT always a plus
Channel faders are a little firm but so are the channel faders on s4
As far as everything being crammed…ALL CONTROLLERS have too much shit on them
S4 is still str8 but not built as tough
I really want a 2 channel battle midi mixer that I don’t have to drop $1000+ on…this is a great option just takes a little more space then sl57 and new pioneer audio interface

I literally got one last week, i am still practicing beat matching, and it is my first controller, it is the most solid and intense unit I saw in guitar center, yea it was a bit more than I wanted to pay for my first mixer but I have a feeling I’ll save 4x what I spent in going through crappy mixers until I found one as good as this.
I do have some questions, I want to switch from VDJ to Traktor Pro 2 is this a good decision for use with the 6000?
Also I want to get a midi fighter, I have a launchpad but really can’t figure it out… maybe I should keep and and wait until I run Traktor to try using the launchpad again.
im actually really new into the midi-world and controllerism, I really don’t know what the difference between the launchpad and the midi-fighter is.
Glad to see someone picking up an MC6K. The beat matching is an art form; I haven’t mastered it completely. It is a bit more touchy digitally that it is with a pair of turntables. But I find it much easier for controllerism to just have the SYNC on and have fun mashing the sample buttons. I’m not perfect at that either.
LaunchPad is probably better used with Ableton. I’ve wanted one for awhile, but I still have not maximized the MC6K functionality yet. I prefer to use Tractor Pro 2 since I have history with it, but some say that VDJ is pretty slick and easy to use.
As for MidiFighter and other DJTT products, they work best with Tractor Pro products, and there are a lot of support from DJTT and the forums.
I would suggest you keep working on the raw power of MC6K, figure out how to connect the LaunchPad together and use midi control signals. Google is where you need to go!
You sir, are THE MAN! so far the most helpful guy I’ve run across here. any-who, how do I do that with the sample buttons? It’s 2am in Boston so I think I’m gonna break out the manual for my night time reading before bed haha.
Truth be told, when I got the Denon, I had no idea what I was actually buying, yea it was solid and had 4 channels, nice mixer. bla bla bla. but the sample buttons, the control booth sender, 2 mic inputs. this thing is a BEAST!
So you said that it can work with traktor? I’m really interested in using it, I’ve been using VDJ for about 2 weeks and it’s great, but it leaves a few things to be desired, like FX, and some looping features, maybe I need to work on them with the Beast but for now, I’d like to go to Traktor, there’s way more people running it than VDJ and I feel there will be more resources to learn from that way.
I cant figure out how to get the 2nd and 3rd FX buttons (ones with knobs not the “FX on” ones" to work, the first is the selected effect and the 4th is the weird sound making thing. dont know what its called, sorta like a flanger maybe?

The S4 is the only Traktor controller out there right now that has precision jog wheels. All of the others use MIDI and don’t feel precise at all. This, along with the on-controller feedback, is really, really nice.
If it weren’t for those reasons, I’d probably be much more inclined to go with the Denon. I like my equipment feeling professional, and the S4 is just too light and cheap. Although after 1.5 years of regular use I have yet to have any issues with it… shrugs
