You can change this in the preferences, but I haven’t used this prog for so long I’ve forgotten the process >.<
Anyhow, I agree with Jester, use them for music encoded below 256kbps (Not saying I’d play out with them, more so for listening). Personally wouldn’t let Platinum Notes near any recently produced, high quality, purchased music.
With that said I find a lot of dated legit tracks sound muddled in comparison to recent ones. Perhaps you’d get a good result running stuff like this through PN, just make sure you create a separate version leaving the original intact.
When you mix with traktor pro 2 you can order your tracks in the browsing section by date, thats great because then you can see which tracks are the newest, but when i use platinum notes for my tracks that i select, it changes the date from the tracks when i ordered them to the date of the day i let platinum notes run through it, is it possible to do something about this?
Are you sorting by release date or date added? But the short answer is yes there is a way to retain the original tags. I usually import the original mp3 so Traktor gets all the album art and tags. Then remove the mp3 from my HD to external after shutting Traktor down. Restart Traktor after processing then I do a consistency check and point the search window to my flacs (or wavs). All the original information from the mp3 tags are retained with in Traktor’s collection.
BTW a similar process can be done with Audacity to “automagically” copy mp3 tags to flacs. I do this because i don’t wish to re-encode into mp3 for obvious reasons.
I am sorting by date added, because in my traktor pro2 the release dates are empty.
I still dont understand how you do this, could u please give me a more detailed answer, because i really want to do this also the way you do it, i hope you can give me a good explanation of the order you do things for this to word, btw i am from holland
Steps:
1-Purchase music
2-Add mp3 files to Traktor by dragging them from window explorer or finder window to a deck (no grids) this copies the mp3 artwork and tags to Traktor’s collection
3-close Traktor and put my original mp3 onto external disc for backup (removing them from my local HD music folder)
4-Process mp3 in PN and take the resulting wavs to Audacity to export flacs.
5-Copy the flacs to my local HD music fiolder (filenames are identical to the purchased mp3 files)
6-Open Traktor and select the preciously imported tracks, right-click and select “relocate”
7-Select the flacs from the pop-up window.
8-do analysis and grids.
Traktor retains the original tags from the mp3s as well as artwork.
I’m assuming you are processing mp3 files and that those files are imported into Traktor before PN processing. i.e. you are processing tracks you purchased months or years ago. If this is the case what are you doing with the new PN processed files? Are you re-encoding into mp3 and overwriting your old files (not recommended because of lossy compression)? Or are you re-importing into Traktor as a wav or flac?
If it is the latter don’t drag your processed files into a deck because tags will get overwritten. Do a consistency check via right-click menu when Traktor starts and add the files through the dialogue. Basically the only thing that gets updated in your collection is the “file location” attribute. Artwork, release dates, date added etc. won’t be changed.
I have tried to follow al the steps from space monkey but i still don’t understand it.
I do this in following:
1st. proces my mp3’s in pn 2.0
2nd. when i load my pn processed tracks in traktor i lose the original date added etc..
and i don’t understand al the other steps that space monkey is talking about, help!!

Yeah, sry I couldnt make it more clear. I was writing from work and its one of those things that would be best served in video. All I know is when I first used pn I had the same issue and started messing around looking for a better work flow. Try experimenting with a single song/file so you don’t mess up a bunch working out the kinks
I still would never use this tool as it can make some songs sound horrendous.. then again like I said before, alot of trance music doesnt need to be touched.

When i select an mp3 file (not processed with pn) in the browsing section i drag it to 1 of the 4 decks without beatgriddin it, but even then the date changes to this day.
