So I decided its time to get rid of my trusty Hercules RMX/BCR/NANO setup and move on to something with even more flashy lights and fadery buttony madness.
Now I already have a BCR which is being totally underutilized which I could sell. I just cant seem to decide on a mapping and its been relegated pretty much to FX only and never really 100% comfortable with any layout I came up with for it.
Do I Keep the BCR and go with the APC20 or is the 40 worthwhile… the build quality makes me think yes but i’m on the fence about it.
Lend me your views … bear in mind i’m “thinking” of gutting my nano and trying to get the bits together for a custom controller from a broken 16ch mixing desk which I could probably get if I sell the BCR.
I think thats just it, I’m was never 100% happy with the BCR
I much prefer faders TBH to rotary’s and it really never feet the sturdiest piece of kit for mashing on, certainly in comparison to the Herc which is built like a sherman tank and my KDJ500 which I had before …
I like my gear so tough even Chuck Norris’ little finger couldn’t damage it!
Ironically i’m really happy with the herc and would highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a sub $500 controller (yes even over the VCI) Just want a change in workflow and many more faders and buttons
Hell the nanokontrol feels like a toy but I’ve never heard it creak when the buttons are pressed
Sensible does not come into the equation
(Yeah I know Daft punk tour with BCR’s but how many spares do they keep backstage and solder monkeys well fed !).
Waiting till thurs when I should have a APC40 in my hands and gonna sell off the BCR. I got the APC S/H for the same price as the 20 so smiley faces all round.
I hocked the RMX yesterday and spent a long night mapping & remapping the BCR for kicks. Blagh.. still not happy with it, guess I just like faders too much and the build quality on the BCR leaves me uncomfortable.
Frankenstein will be built anyhow mark my words, the thread on making a midimixer from an old behringer Dx500 got the brain cells doing dances. Almost EXACTLY the right number of faders/pots/buttons to line up with a nanokontrol board.
