I need something like the audio 10 to hook up my DDM4000 to traktor, but I don’t want to spend 500$ on some damn soundcard.
I looked on the interwebs and found that the Xone 2D is also a 8channel soundcard.
If I mix these two together, the DDM4000 hooked up to a Xone 2D, the Xone to traktor, would that do the same as an audio 10?
Thanks in advance, you guys have already been a huge help for this noobie.
get something like Amazon.com and just hook it up to your laptop?
edit: you still need a soundcard…u could always get an audio 2 and run usb from your computer into the audio 2 into channels a/b on your mixer and use the above midi to usb to allow you to control traktor
xone 2d and DDM4000 will work just fine, I’ve used that setup before.
You can mix externally on all 4 channels.
You can also use either a usb to midi cable to use the midi functions of the DDM4000 or use a straight 5 pin midi cable routed through the 2d’s midi in/out, so you only need to use up one usb port.
I don’t know about Macs, sorry. Limited experience with them.
With Windows install the ASIO4ALL driver, select that as your soundcard drive in your software, then open the ASIO4ALL preferences by clicking on the icon on the task bar, make sure both soundcards are selected in the window that pops up (probably want to disable your laptop’s internal one) and that’s it. Your software should see them both as one card now.
With Linux and ALSA I’d probably try and write a .asoundrc file that sorta creates a dummy device with the ins and outs of both of them and stick it in your home directory but that’s beyond me.
Audio/midi setup, new device, select both soundcards, agregate into one. i use it for all my bluetooth adaptors about my house. Dunno how well it would work in a DJ situation though, and if there would be lagging or not. plus you would have to use both your usb ports just for sound.
don’t know I don’t use traktor, but it might be a reasonably good way of getting tsp timecode using a better soundcard and get some extra controls at the same time
