Audio formats? Help?

Ok,
So i made a 40min mix finally with Traktor using the S4. I try uploading it to SoundCloud and I got an error right when it got to 100%. The file size was huge (480MB) because i know in traktor it records as a .wav file. Is there any file that wont take the high quality out of the music but compress the file to a smaller number of MB’s? Thanks.

just convert it to an mp3.

If you want it to be lossless convert it to .flac

If you don’t care (and with a mix I don’t see the point in it being lossless) convert it to an mp3. I like 256kbps for mixes. Anything higher than 320kbps is a bit pointless really.

Soundcloud converts everything to 128kbps mp3 anyway, so if you’re streaming it there’s no point saving it higher than that.

If you want to make it downloadable the 320kbps Mp3 is better. It will still be coverted and stream in the soundcloud player at the lower 128 bitrate but people will get the 320 quality version when they download it.

And yeah, next step from that is FLAC - which is great!

iTunes can convert to AAC wich is basically equivilant to 256kbps MP3 (correct me if i’m wrong)

256 AAC is supposed to be equivalent to 320K mp3. The deep house mix in my sig is 112kbps to get it under mixclouds 100mb limit.

if you want folks to download your mix then convert it to a 192+ mp3 mate.
