Audio interface

Audio interface

I am using my Numark DJ IO as an audio interface for production right now and either because of the soundcard or my laptop, i get huge cpu load alike delay, and lag on the DAW. Audio keeps cracking etc.

Laptop is Core2Duo 2.0 ghz with 4 gig ram etc, not super new but not that crappy as well. So is the audio interface is my problem, if so what are some good audio interfaces in below 0-300$ range?

What’s you’re latency set at?

256 samples, 7.3 ms/32.7 ms

Did you try this? http://www.native-instruments.com/knowledge/questions/847/Windows+7+Tuning+Tips+for+Audio+Processing

I am still using windows vista lol, maybe i should update it to W7

That seems a bit low, try raising it a bit and see if that helps the problem. Also, after adjusting it you might have to close Ableton and open it again. When ever I tried to adjust it I would get a horrible CPU spike until I restarted it, then the spike went away.

Either that or roll back to XP, Vista is the worst place you want to be with audio software.

Has Ableton gotten that bad? My computer’s newer than his and a Mac, but I routinely run at 32 or 64 samples in Logic with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, which is a cheap USB piece of crap (that sounds okay for the price). Maschine is set to 128 with my internal sound card. 256 is the border of usable if you want to play parts instead of drawing them for me.

There’s got to be something weird going on there.

I run the latency pretty low my self, but I have a new MBP though so I can get away with it. But when I was on my old Mac with a 2.2 Duo Core and 4GB of ram I had to run it a bit higher than he currently has it, but I was also running some intensive VSTs so I’m sure that wasn’t helping the cause :stuck_out_tongue:

But like some one else said, maybe Vista might be the issue as well.

Or windows in general…………

i kid, i kid…………

kinda.

This can’t end well

Just take it as a joke and move on.

I’m worried about everyone else once they catch wind of this

Ingore lists.
