audio routing issues with custom vci

hey guys.. having some issues here with my vci 100 se arcade edition (rockits plugged into a mbox 2 mini, and headphones connected through the head phone jack into the mbox 2) (mac). i am running traktor pro 1.2.4 but for some reason it will not allow the audio routing for my headphones to work. in other words, when i play two songs at the same time they both channel out through my speakers. my acrade buttons are also set up for weird functions like play, cue and pause when really they should be for hot cues and sampling. if anyone has any information at all to help me get start mixing i’ll be beyond thrilled.

thanks,

tash

Audio - check your output routings in the preferences in Traktor. Check your cue buttons on the VCI. Check the monitor mix on your VCI.
With most mappings, the Arcade button’s primary functions are Play, Pause etc, 'cos that is what you’ll mostly be using them for. You’ll either have to find a mapping that’s different or remap those buttons.

If you use the latest DJTT mapping you can put the arcade buttons in juggle mode which will activate those as cues.

Take a look at the overlay on that page and you’ll see juggle 1-4 and juggle 5-8 in the upper left.

I’ve never used an M-box2, so this might be a stupid question. But, does it have separate output channel for the headphones, or does it just mirror the master out?
As for the button functions, like Lethal said, it sounds like you want an advanced mapping. You can find a great one here…

Along with some tutorials for setting everything up.

AH! Chris, ya beat me to it.

muuhhhaahaahaawww

pretty normal and necessary functions imho…

:stuck_out_tongue:

:sunglasses:

but, yeah +1 on finding the juggle mode button/switch/whatever - don’t use that map so no idea

The Mbox 2 Mini only has 1 stereo output, so you won’t be able to set up a main output and a cue output. Unfortunately, it does not support aggregate devices so you couldn’t combine it with your built-in headphones.

is there anyway i can use the mon out for the cue? if not, should i get the audio 2 or the audio 4?

the mbox 2 is pretty much trash… its pretty much a protools access card (thats whta I used it for). You can use it with traktor, but you will not have monitor, only master in the headphones.

If your not ever going to hook up CDJ’s or turntables get the Audio 2. the sound is just as good and it’s the size of a deck of cards.

alright so i got the audio 2… but i am thinking now i need the audio 4… it only has two channels out and i have one the two channels for the speaker plus my headphones. can anyone help me to get this working with the audio 2?

The audio 2 has 4 channels out, or 2 stereo channels, however you want to interpret it.

Just use the included 1/4" TRS to RCA adapter on channel A for your speakers, and plug your headphones directly into channel B.

the problem is i can only plug in one speaker with the 1/4 inch jacks…

i am working with the one speaker but also am having issues with playing two songs at once. thus, i want to be able to play a track through the master speaker and listen to another on my headphones in order to cue.. any ideas?

What he said.

ok nice i got both speakers to work. however, they are extremely close. so spacing them out is not an option right do to the rca out putting. still stuck on being able to cue… any thoughts?

What kind of inputs do your speakers have???

You could get some extension cables.
If the speakers have 1/4" inch ins, and you have some extra 1/4" chords, then you could get one of these…

This splits the stereo TRS signal into 2 mono TS signals.

The headphones are connected to the Audio 2 correct? You’ll have to go into audio output routing in the preference pane and set the output monitor to the correct channel.

both channel a and b are working for me. however, i am trying to split my outputs so i can play both songs at once.. thus, listen to song on my headphones while another is playing out the master

thanks for all the helpp

You got this a bit jammed up mate.

Your master out is one channel. (Channel A)
There are a Pair of RCA outs that you route to your amp or speakers.
The mixing (playing 2 tracks) is mixed internally in Traktor, so you only need to have the single output channel.

Then, you headphones should be using Channel B. This should be set to monitor in the Output routing section.

Then play a track on both decks at the same time. put the X fader in the middle and your volumes both up. You should hear them both playing over the speakers. move the X fader to the left or right and you should be cutting out one of the decks.

Now, put your phones on and click the Deck A headphone cue button. You should be hearing deck A.

Do the same for deck B.

Report back.

Awesome. It works perfect! Although… for some reason my headphone button for a and b on Traktor (version 1.2.1) do not respond to the vestax, it responds to the deck c or deck d button, which is unresponsive for that function. Also “Cut” does not work at all and I feel there are a few others missing as well. This has just happened recently. Any ideas?
