Beatport Streaming

Beatport Streaming

Anyone got beta access?
What’s it like?

Bueller …

I do and it’s not quite there yet. I was expecting it to pick up all the saved artists/labels i have on my regular account but i guess it’s their way of giving me a fresh start =P

Yeah I’ve got an invite. Here’s one of the biggest and best names in Techno

Badly sorted. impossible to go dig through EPs and singles. Instead I just get a list of what seems to be random tracks - some of them even show up more than once. Maybe I’m doing something wrong - maybe this is for the EDM kids.. dunno

I can’t find shit. No digging or comprehensive search. What’s the point of this site? Paid promotion from labels to get better coverage?

Signed up today. will check it out when i sober up.

Hmm I misunderstood - I thought they were launching a DJ streaming service, this is just EDM last.fm

Why didn’t they do this!! This would have made it worth it from the start.

Nah, this was for non-DJs with Beatport Pro being for DJs.

It seems a lot of people don’t like the new Beatport Pro interface though.

i hardly know how beatport works anymore. I just google the track im looking for, whichever service comes up first Juno, beatport whatever…thats who I buy from.

But Beatport is for DJs, why would non DJ’s want to listen to full length mixable tracks? i.e. 2 minutes worth of mixing bars… I just don’t see the point in this at all.

This would be cool as a paid subscription service that could sync playlists with Traktor or something.

Their Beatport pro interface is just awful.

The streaming likely has mostly radio edits? I got the invite but haven’t logged in to check it out yet

I assumed it would be their existing library which is mainly dj length tracks.

Yeah I can’t see regular listeners caring for 7minute tracks average listening of their demographic is what 3minutes? Gotta love add

Based on the screencap that decon posted, all I can say is that it looks like the site is a bit chaotic at the moment.

I don’t think that looks like it’s for DJs, regardless of the track lengths. Too unorganized.

Basically I agree with you that I don’t see the point either!
this!

I have plenty of non-dj friends that listen to full length 7~12 minute tunes all the time. Not everyone has the attention span of a goldfish or needs to hear tunes mixed all the time.

got into the beta today. the biggest benefit for djs is full length track previews. the only down side is they use infinite scroll instead of page listing. it can take forever to find a track.
unless im studying a track so I know all the parts well when i play it out i skip intro and outro beats. for casual listening those parts of a dance track usually aren’t very interesting. especially if they’re very generic with no melody. those tracks where the producer actually put some effort into the intro and outro beats i’ll listen to from start to finish without skipping ahead.

I’m irritated at Beatport. Their search functionality has been handicapped quite a bit. Browsing seems harder now.

I have a beta invitation to beatport’s new stream service. It’s not where it needs to be yet - but I see this being AWESOME in the future.

The main reason? There are so many times when I’m digging for music and I’d like to hear the track all the way through. Or the blurb beatport has given doesn’t quite line-up right and you miss something.

This will give you a chance to listen to the whole track.

But right now unless you specifically know the artists you want to listen to - it’s browsing functionality needs work.
