So…as some of you know, I have split my rig up and now have a DVS only system and a Digital Mixing one.
Mixing Externally now on the DVS, I needed more RCA’s.
Hating the RCA’s you buy in the shops etc and only having bad results (Specially for DVS and External Mixing) I decided to make up a few pairs for myself.
I have one pair I had made up about 8 years ago and they are as solid as the day I bought em. Mic Flex cable and solid ends.
So I needed to do the same again.
I ended up finding some REALLY KILLER RCA Jacks.
They are called AMPHENOL…I know, sounds like some kind of chemist drugs…
Honestly I believe you could use a wire coat hanger and some solder and no one would ever be able to hear the difference. Just make sure it’s not damaged and you’re fine.
i use the premium rca cables from monoprice. what i like about them is that they are pretty tick and are gold plated they are also the lowest price i have seen anywhere for any type of rca. only problem is that they grip a little too tight and can sometimes be hard to pull off… this may also be a good thing in case of accidents.
i’ve had nothing but issues with rca leads since the start, i was offered a pair of these when a friend who owns a car shop was taking a display unit apart
i got them for £10 for the pair and havent had any issues due to rca since,
Cheap cables may be prone to shitty grounding. Since we’re talking DVS you may hear this should you route real vinyl through traktor. I’m happy I have one good rca pair to rip my records with But other than that since my kit doesn’t move around the cheapo cables I got when I started mixing externally are still just fine - I’d go with neutrik plugs for DIY.
Perfect cables to use; and since we’re talking DVS make sure you are using only ClearAudio Goldfinger Statement cartridges for your turntables. Otherwise you might miss some ones and zeroes.
Don’t always assume you know what the poster means. You read into it being about audio quality, which I agree is nuts when we talking RCA’s…speaker wires and gold plating.
I recommend home-studio wires. You can normally get them at a lower price due to their mass production. Aside from that hand making them is always a fun project. O_O
