Best\High Quality RCA Jacks.

Best\High Quality RCA Jacks.

So…as some of you know, I have split my rig up and now have a DVS only system and a Digital Mixing one.

Mixing Externally now on the DVS, I needed more RCA’s.

Hating the RCA’s you buy in the shops etc and only having bad results (Specially for DVS and External Mixing) I decided to make up a few pairs for myself.

I have one pair I had made up about 8 years ago and they are as solid as the day I bought em. Mic Flex cable and solid ends.

So I needed to do the same again.

I ended up finding some REALLY KILLER RCA Jacks.

They are called AMPHENOL…I know, sounds like some kind of chemist drugs…

I got the ones at the top of the list.

I used to have issues with my Audio 4’s inputs for DVS and could never really get it correct. I thought I had damaged my sound card!

However, with these new cables…its all sorted!
STOKED!

So, out of interest and maybe it will help others on this forum, lets hear which you think are great and which you currently use.

I have been told that Neutrik are the best, but they also seem to be the most expensive.

Honestly I believe you could use a wire coat hanger and some solder and no one would ever be able to hear the difference. Just make sure it’s not damaged and you’re fine.

Yeah, I think of my wires in binary.
1=working
0=not working

I use these:

Cheap things!

Mmm…well…I am talking about whether they damage your gear.

Cheap RCA’s just break…

The better ones I tried almost destroyed my gear by being too tight etc.

These…are the SHIT…like butter!

And no more issues.

But use your wire hanger…if it ain;t broke…don;t fix it

Well, like most said, it’s more a work or not thing. Problem is with the connector tips and durability generally on the cheap ones.

i use the premium rca cables from monoprice. what i like about them is that they are pretty tick and are gold plated  they are also the lowest price i have seen anywhere for any type of rca. only problem is that they grip a little too tight and can sometimes be hard to pull off… this may also be a good thing in case of accidents.

i’ve had nothing but issues with rca leads since the start, i was offered a pair of these when a friend who owns a car shop was taking a display unit apart

i got them for £10 for the pair and havent had any issues due to rca since,

Cheap cables may be prone to shitty grounding. Since we’re talking DVS you may hear this should you route real vinyl through traktor. I’m happy I have one good rca pair to rip my records with :stuck_out_tongue: But other than that since my kit doesn’t move around the cheapo cables I got when I started mixing externally are still just fine - I’d go with neutrik plugs for DIY.

Perfect cables to use; and since we’re talking DVS make sure you are using only ClearAudio Goldfinger Statement cartridges for your turntables. Otherwise you might miss some ones and zeroes.

What the fuck

Indeed - we are talking about solid silver wire to make these cables with though, and not just any silver.

I actually think this is the only cable you can use with the Novation Twitch…its capable of passing the magical signals it produces.

Ah, ‘audiophiles’ and the silly silly money they’re willing to spend on barely noticable (if it exists at all) performance gains …

Yeah…but I find they get iffy with age. Touch em and they crackle and lose sound etc.

They always fuck out after a while. Make them up with quality ends…and they will be the last RCA’s you ever buy. Last you forever.

I tend to find it’s the wires breaking inside the sheath rather than the ends crapping out on me…

Its not about audio quality for me at all.

It was about it working or not.

All the other RCA’s I tried gave me hassles…quickly. I tried better ones and the plugs ended up almost eating my gears ports.

So I got these real nice ones seeing as my other lasted this long.

Audiophiles are a bit wonky innit? This is not about the quality at all.

My Audio 4 would not pick up the left side of the channels audio. Was not the needles…or settings.

I used the 2nd set of inputs and routed it to whichever channel I wanted DVS on.

Thats all gone now.

Love it …hate it…it fucking works!

Mr. Know-it-all…

Don’t always assume you know what the poster means. You read into it being about audio quality, which I agree is nuts when we talking RCA’s…speaker wires and gold plating.

Would you say that all USB cables are alike?

No slight intended about what you posted chap - more a comment on the loony tunes cash for £4k RCA cable and £14k carts that people put after you …

I recommend home-studio wires. You can normally get them at a lower price due to their mass production. Aside from that hand making them is always a fun project. O_O

Indeed!

Its either that, the ends being too tight…etc…always something wrong with em!

Nice soft flex mic cable and them solid jacks…

And it just looks better!
