I was listening to DJAM and Travis Barkers mixtape from Coachella called “Fix Your Face vol. 2” and DJAM played a couple songs that I could’ve sworn were, at this point, almost faux paux to play. This led me to the forum to ask:
What songs can you just not play anymore?
I have a couple:
Kid Cudi - Day N Nite (Crookers Remix)
MGMT - Kids (Soulwax Remix)
Deadmau5 - Ghosts n Stuff
Darude - Sandstorm (but who would, honestly)
Fedde La Grand - Put Your Hands Up For Detroit
Please add but I feel like these are songs that are currently in the category of “played out”
I agree, but this is the problem DJ’s have had for a loooooooong time. If I got to play only the songs I wanted, it would be a rough night, as most only boogie to what they already know.
If people were dancing to the songs, then it’s all good…as it’s up to the crowd.
But I agree…there are soo many songs that I am tired of. Most times, I’m done with them before they even become “mainstream”. I feel like I’ve had Kid Cudi for almost 2yrs now…
You got the most important ones I guess but c’mon Sandstorm is too old for the list.

I think you guys should all do edits or remixes of these songs for your DJ sets and quit whining damn it ! LOL Seriously though I feel like sometimes it pays to find a way to embrace the cheese
+1 to that. There is a reason why these songs get played out. Its cause the crowd, not the hardcore party kids atleast, WANT to hear these songs. If you can find a great way to bring it in, then you can even please the hardcore clubbers.
Here we go…I don’t think the point of the title was to see if these songs were actually Techno. maybe he/she should have just titled it Blacklisted Dance Songs(every Genre). General enough fo ya?

Thing is that these blacklisted songs are the ones that have been HUGE for ages. You find that if you dont play them for a year or so its fine. Then you play one and everyone go nuts. The big songs come back around after a year or so and then go away again.
There only blacklisted because they were popular in the first place.
Now, SHIT songs that shouldnt be played, well thats another thing..!
