I was wondering if there was a way to use the blue led’s instead of the green ones for the vci100. I find that fader fx and juggle modes should have a bright blue led instead of a dim green one.
The SE models come with blue LEDs, while the standard 100’s have green/yellow. This would be a hardware issue. You would have to swap them out on the circuit board, which people have done fairly easily. There’s a tutorial up here somewhere.
there is a cool vid on youtube with a good tutorial. I’d like to actually see someone solider and cut the legs off so I can get a better idea, and also a spec on the led.
Just ordered a Silver VCI 100 in the UK. Looking to mod myself. Just about to order the overlay from DJTT, as I like the black with silver knobs and jog wheels. Gives it a nice look, a bit of contrast.
Anyway, looking to upgrade the LEDs to super bright ones, and probably different colours.
Can anyone advise a complete noob in this area on what LEDs are bet to buy (ideally in UK), and another noob’s experience of how easy it wa would be useful as I’ve never soldered anything in my life but willing to learn!
I destroyed my VCI-100 Arcade edition trying to swap these LEDs. Really a job for someone with experience, but if you are dead set on doing it yourself, get some old, cheap electronic device - An alarm clock or radio and attempt to remove the LEDs and replace with new ones. See how you get on. It;s a fine art!
