Building the impossible DJ deckstand

(FINISHED) Building the impossible DJ deckstand (FINISHED)

Well some of you may remember i started this thread in djf but thought id start again on here seems as its all gone now.

i want to build this:

I have never made anything like this before and have little woodworking skills but im up for a challenge. will update with pictures of my progress shortly.

That’s a nice looking table - but why the flush mounted decks/mixer?

Just for the sleek/tidy factor. Mite be strange mixing like that for the first time tho.

why not? It beautiful simplicity. Although your fucked if you change mixers with different dimensions.

I no. But my setup is pretty solid and simple. 2 x technics 1210 mk2, xone 22 and torq and I’m not planning on changing it anytime soon.
I’m gonna make it using 1" mdf and to make the curve out of a solid piece of poplar. Pictures coming tomorow

yea I dont think itll be a good idea bc if you ever change mixers then that part of the table is useless lol

unless you build in some inserts that can be removed and resized should you get a new mixer. Thats what i would do.

Yeah what if you made one big hollow cavity in the table, and solid inserts so that if you change anything you only have to change the inserts. You never know what you’re going to change later. Also maybe mount a stand for your laptop if you’re using dvs.
Just some thoughts.

Something like that really wouldnt be too hard to make… I recommend building the structure out of mdf then getting sticky back veneer, if you need i could mock up a plan on sketchup of how I would make it up once you provide dimensions.

Experience : master carpenter and joiner.

do it anyway man! i’d love some plans to have a crack at it too. 900mm high, 1850 long and 800 wide

Thanks for the offer but i have started to build this already, here is one of the legs using 1"mdf and using biscuits/glue to join it all together.

then i laminated a block of four bits of mdf to give me a thickness for a 6" leg. glued and clamped.

Look around here, I think one of the other members has made the exact same thing, and documented the process. Sick idea though, I love the flush mount

Ok i will have a look see if i can find it. here is the initial drawing i made when i thought up doing this.

That’s pretty cool! I would throw some supports along the length though. The weight of everything may sag the middle. Nothing major though, a strip of that thick mdf on each side would probably be enough.

Looks cool man, excited to see finished product.

Looks like your doing ok then  if you need a hand just message me

the only place im stuck at is deciding whether to have it as one solid piece or 3 pieces. any suggestions?

Here is the lovely piece of wood i have to get a smooooth curve on

looks awesome.. keep posting your progress!

Where did you get that piece for the curve?

For strength couldn’t you make a third piece similar to the legs but place that on its side across the top? That way you have your top ready made to sink in your equipment and its just that little bit mor sturdy.

reading that back, its difficult to put what i mean in to words. sorry
