Buying Traktor now?
I got a bit of money recently so I wanted to buy Traktor to replace my (sorry) pirated version. However, I have heard that the new features from the S4 (sample decks etc) are going to be added in a later update to Traktor Pro - do you reckon this will be a free update or will we need to pay for the upgrade? Just wondering whether to hold off on my purchase until the new version comes out, really…
No one here really knows except for maybe a few who are contractually obligated to not talk if this will be a paid update.
Thought Ean said it would be added to Traktor Pro and if thats the case they would be a bit cheeky to ask you to pay. Surely you would only pay if it was a different piece of software, like Traktor/Traktor Pro/Traktor S4 etc .. etc ..
It’s gonna be ‘winter 2010’ for the S4 system to come out, and then probably 1-3 months before the new stand alone software, so i’d suggest buying traktor now, unless you want to wait for like 4+ months..
edit: but this is all speculation, I’m not an NI insider..
Also, NI has charged some software upgrades/updates but those were pretty major. I can imagine this being a paid update, but could also be free. It can go either way, really

No point having that version just because it’s the latest because it’s going to require a good lot of map programming with the limited number of knobs / faders / buttons on most of the controllers currently available.
I say screw the wait and get what you want NOW.
BUY IT NOW… whilst its cheap in some shops.
Doesnt matter what is or isnt coming out and whether its paid or unpaid.
If you get it cheap now you will have Traktor. If and when the S4 features come out as an upgrade you can choose or not choose to get them.
Either way you will probably have saved money by getting the main part cheaper now’
