Bye Bye Traktor Scratch Pro
I have been playing around with RekordBox DJ and I must say I am thoroughly impressed. After 5 straight hours last night with my sx2 and around 2 hours today just on the laptop, I have not had one bug or issue. Ive been running my latency at 10 ms (Traktor needed 14 and Serato needed 11 to take advantage of every feature).
One question I’ve had with the new Rekordbox is if third party controllers will be supported/there’s midi mapping features. Is there anything like that in the current version?
We discuss Rekordbox here already: RekordBox Dj Software!
Lol I started that topic too. IM just excited. haha
Haha right you started that one as well
Honestly I am not too happy with the probable trend of people moving to rekordbox. Pioneers market share will rise even more.
However, if Rekordbox will implement stems one day, a lot more lables could release that format, as there would be a wider spectrum. What I expect though is a move by serato as they have offer resistance to Pioneer.
Serato’s only way to survive in the modern market is to open up the software to full midi mapability and start selling it to those with non-serato devices. Serato is very clean and easy to use.
Haha then Pioneer will be company demanding the specific controllers for their software
I dont see that happening. Pioneer already put a pricepoint on their software and will def be charging more for DVS upgrade. I see RekrodBox being a direct competitor to Traktor. It will be a preference between those that are more technically skilled and those that prefer a bare bones approach to Deejaying.
Vote here if you guys want a separate place to discuss it.
I’m seriously considering ditching TSP too…if only RDJ had a beatmasher it would be an easier decision
I don’t use Pio kit, also I won’t pay again for something that I already have. RBDJ doesn’t do anything extra that Traktor doesn’t do, plus I can map my head off on Traktor whereas RBDJ is for Pio users only. It’s pretty stupid to pay for another DJ program if the one you have already works.
I cant agree with the above post. After heavy use of RBDJ, I haven’t come across any issues yet. I always have a small issue here or there with traktor whether it be waveforms misbehaving, missing tracks in playlists, audio glitches, and a need for higher latency.
I do love traktor for its user mapability and will still be using it for gigs where pioneer hardware isn’t on hand, but every booking Ive had recently has either already had a pioneer kit, or I bring my SX2 with me.
