can anyone tell me about this genre of house music?
Hey all, i’m a hip hop junkie but have recently been getting more into some house stuff. in the past i’ve been kind of confused by the rigidity/minimalism of most house music but i’m finding there are certain tracks that really appeal to me. i’d love to find more stuff like these:

I am really enamored by the soft vocals and the filtery sounds that are explored. is this uk bass? or is it disco? i’d really appreciate being pointed in the right direction! Cheers.
Nice. I would recommend some individual tracks, but the journey taken using this stuff as a starting point is what made me so appreciate the 70’s and 80’s so much.
Without going into too much detail, start following the blogs by Horse Meat Disco, Feel My Bicep, The Late Show (their edit compilations are free for download on their site), and their friends.
Flight Facilities dipped their toes into this category for a short bit last year… a couple of great edits from their Paris Social Club series will remain in my sets for a long time. Also, Australia’s Young/Youth edits are a staple for this kind of stuff. I could play many amazing disco sets with just his edits from the past three years.

Edit: Subscribe to Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space podcast. The guests he pulls in to his weekly NYU Radio show are unbelievable and deliver uncommonly intimate performances. This past week Sasha from In Flagranti destroyed anything else going on in modern disco on Tim’s show. The Pete Gordon & Love Of Life Orchestra blend he opened his set with pitched down to a minor key blew my mind… I’ll probably remember it fondly when I’m breathing my final breath.

So, is it just me or is slower house just kind of awesome. Maybe it’s just my tastes reacting against the Prog/Electro House “EDM” explosion. But I’m really enjoying the stuff in this track even more than the Nu Disco stuff I’ve listened to before.
I’ve got a long party to play for a friend in a few weeks and some stuff like this will definitely fit in.
Yeah it’s good stuff, it slips in nicely with Deep/Soulful House too I find.

nope it’s not just you, i’ve been really vibing on slower, deep house lately as well. i think for me it’s because i went through a heavy dnb/drumstep/dubstep phase and i really burned myself out on all the aggressive sounds. i’ve got a couple places lined up where stuff like this will work perfectly. gonna have to give these artists/tracks a further listen for sure.
