Ok here I go. I use CDJ 2000 with traktor in the club I resident at. The laptop and the X1 I use are my own and I bring them in every night to DJ. To be honest I really only use the CDJ’s as expensive midi controllers and for their sound cards. Running 5.5ms latency. The bulk of my workflow is done on the X1, I use the CUE, PLAY and jog wheel functions on the CDJ’s.
Now saying they are just really expensive midi controllers and I am under utilizing them is a common comment, and you would be right. However I feel most people are looking at it the wrong way. I only use them because they are there and it is convenient. I defiantly would NOT purchase them for only using Traktor. For the club owner on the other hand, if a DJ comes in wanting to use Traktor, Serato, CD’s or USB they can with little hassle. The CDJ 2000 are very versatile and can cater to many different kinds of DJ’s.
Once again, I would NOT purchase them for only using Traktor, I would rather purchase and S4 or something similar. You will find the majority of nightclubs will still use CDJ’s and the latest models can cater to many different DJ’s controllerists included. I feel sometimes on this site people are looking at equipment ONLY from a controllerists point of view and not from a bar owners point of view.

i use my CDJ-400 has midi controllers somtimes only thing is, they have built in soundcards and well.. sound is decent but one output and can’t select both of them on diff outputs…sooo you’d need a soundcard! but it’s fun less computer hogging for choosing tracks if you don’t have a controller
You can use both in traktor if you use the generic asio drives and select them both in the driver settings.

I would really consider buying a set of CDJ 900’s or similar if clubs around my area actually had the latest model CDJ’s that I could just plug and play with traktor.
well since i own a set of 900’s i have to comment.. using them as midi controllers might be fun but it sucks.. the feel of my contours controlling traktor is much better.
also the mapping sucks and i’m a lazy ass and will not change the mapping. I think if you wanted to control traktor use tsp(2)
I have been thinking about getting tsp but using the cdj with recordbox makes more sense to me.
just using a 900 or 2000 with traktor as a controller is stupid.
