CDJ-2000NXS2 Thread

I went from turntables to the XDJ’s for a bit. build qual was so sub par… also a resistive touch screen on a $1000 unit? come on pioneer.. Those can be found on 50 dollar tablets..

Resistive touch screen sounds so bad though  Is it not as bad as people make it out to be?

I wish the Guitar Center here stocked one so I could try it out.

I mean if you care about just playing tracks a-B then they give you all the 2000nxs features except through that screen. You can forget about cue juggling on them though. They miss inputs and don’t like fast performance if you’re used to controllerism stuff. Also compared to traktor or sera to waveforms they’re not nearly as silky smooth. Overall though if you want pioneer gear go for it, just know it comes with less than stellar hardware quality..

Maybe look for a pair of used 850s? You can usually land two of those for the price of one XDJ

Jog wheels are about on par with the 900s if a little bit flimsier feeling.

Hello,

Do you guys have an idea how they will handle the FLAC / ALAC exportation knowing that for a year or so, the majority of the market will still be using the NXS1?

At the moment, Rekordbox accept FLAC / ALAC but won’t export them onto an USB drives. What will happened the day when Rekordbox will start to export lossless audio files? Are these track simply not going to be played (which, in that case, would be a big mess) or are they going to propose a solution like on-the-fly conversion Lossless to AIFF…etc?

So basically you will like to know how the old, CDJ-2000NXS will behave when you plug a rekordbox analyzed USB drive with FLAC/ALAC files?

No, that’s pretty much straightforward, they won’t be played. I’m just wondering how Pioneer would avoid the mess of people like me who will export different formats into a USB and find out at the club that the CDJs won’t play half of the tracks because this is not the new model.

I hope they will include some kind of ALAC to AIFF conversion during the export but they never did it before even if it was asked numerous time.

A question for the rekordbox or cdj-2000nxs thread.

Kinda like people using CD and then coming up to the club to find XDJ’s in the booth.
IMO, they just need to add a warning during export of FLAC files.

I just picked up XDJs on sale in early December and was worried about them immediately getting replaced by an XDJ 2000 when I saw the NXS2 announcement. While an upgraded XDJ would have been nice, it seems like combining these two units into one unit was the logical choice. The fact that it plays CDs is not really a pro or a con, as I feel it doesn’t really inflate the price that much (it is Pioneer, the price will always be high because it commands industry presence) and it was a really good combination of the two. Will we see an XDJ 2000? Sure, probably in the future but not until the sales for the NXS2 line up are finally dipping down and there isn’t much competition. Hopefully this NXS2 is the turning point into XDJ systems, but it really is tough to call.

I’m looking forward to trying some out but in all honesty, for home use the XDJ has wildly surprised me and exceeded expectations. For the price of one CDJ 2000 NXS2 you can pick up a pair of XDJs and if you catch them on sale, have a decent chunk of change to put towards a mixer too. Clubs/large venues always have money to spend on this stuff and upgrading these to be the industry norm is going to be very easy for Pioneer, especially with WMC/Ultra coming around the corner.

Willing to bet that any firmware updates (which should probably be possible) for the XDJ won’t come out for like half a god damn year, but that’s just how I think Pioneer operates. I would love to be wrong!
