the BIG Pioneer XDJ1000 thread

Have heard some rumors that Pioneer is going to release a 2000NXS type player but without
the CD drive, anybody that have some more info on this??

that would be interesting, or could just be troll

A CDJ that cannot play a CD ?

Pioneer USBJ 2000

It won’t be called a “CDJ” but I heard a bit of info

Helpful lol

SDJ2000 :stuck_out_tongue:

Or, if it’s really, really expensive SSDJ2000

Hmm, interesting. Wonder if they will cut pricing. Knowing Pioneer they’ll probably find a way to hype and add a price hike.

If ? Don’t you mean ‘when’.

Leopards and spots.

Some (more) MIDI-controlling buttons & encoders would be good. Hope they add these.

It’s called a joke…

I know… I was joining in.

Interesting…

I’m really curious to see what improvements they’re bringing.

Maybe they’ll introduce a completely customizable, modular controller system and offer up tons of different parts one could basically “tetris” together to create their own custom layouts for their own needs. Of course all Pioneer propriety parts, and it would have to come with enough pieces for 1 or 2 basic layouts.

This idea from the Project Ara/Android L modular phone, and since people dig what NI has been doing with their sort-of-modular controller setups with the X/Z1’s and what not.

Modular might be cool but really expensive for the end user. Everyone ends with roughly the same layout give or take a few bits so it still makes a lot more sense to just keep a good for all layout you can find at any club (assuming this replaces CDJ setups over the years).

Pioneer are creatures of habit, they’re not going to stray from what they know works. Think of CDJ900NXS screen, hot cues from the 2000, network linkable, USB for Rekordbox, HID for computer control, and obviously the platter that NI don’t think is in “the future of DJ” … Having jog sensitivity and SD slot would be great but I don’t know about these bits.

Basically the S1 controller that we’ve been asking NI for over on their forum for the last 3 or 4 years.

Also a USB port for MIDI/HID on the top of the CDJ would be clever.

The biggest change, if they decide to go through with it, will be the DDJ-SZ platters. I think those are the future for Pioneer. No more ball bearings, no more noise or unnatural tension from the jog wheels. They will add the CDJ900NXS screen, but tilted as it should be. Probably a Hot Cue D button or something (wow, 33% more hotcue buttons! I can see the marketing already  )

Lol @ 33% more hot cues

In all honesty though it would be great to have the extra hot cue button, with Traktor I’ve mapped the slip button to cue 1, because for some strange reason Pioneer maps button A to Traktor cue 2, button B to 3 and button C to 4 … Buttons for A/1, B/2, C/3 and D/4 make more sense, and a shift or modifier for A/5, B/6, C/7 and D/8 would also be welcome.

That A is mapped to hotcue 2 makes sense in my workflow. Hotcue 1 is always the load marker in my tracks. I agree with the platters, the capacitive ones from the DDJ series work much nicer than the mechanical ones on the CDJ’s.
