CDJ or Vinyl?

CDJ or Vinyl?

Hey Guys!
Alright, i’m selling my S2 and some other gear, since i’ve been looking to switch to some kind of timecode setup, and with summer parties quickly approaching, now is the time! Unfortunately, i’m on a low budget, once i buy the A6 package, so i’m really looking at two options. i will not that i like to mix, not so much controllerism, or scratching. Along with one of these, i’ll be buying either a B-Control rotary thing, an X1, or a Trigger Finger.

#1. CDJ - A pair of NDX 400. Not top of the line cdj’s by any means, but that’s what i can afford, and they have some decent features.

#2. Vinyl - a pair of Stanton T.62 turntables. The only reason i’m tentative about this is i don’t know what kind of maintenance turntables need, and how much that’ll cost. I don’t know if i’ll need slipmats, cartridges, i don’t know much about turntables in general, but i think they’d give an awesome hands-on feel to my mixing.

I need to decide with in a few days here, and i don’t need someone to tell me what i exactly need to do, but just suggestions, enlightenment, experiences, etc. is very much appreciated… Thanks!

are you saying here you dont like controllers and you wont be scratching?

i cant comment on the NDX 400’s, but id say read the thread on second hand technics turntables and buy some of them if you want turntable. ive had mine coming on ten years and there is not the slightest problem with. they have a rep for being able to last many years so that shouldnt be a problem you need to consider in the near future. you will need slipmats, you will need carts

Mixing on vinyl is an experience everyone should try out. It might not strike your fancy, but personally I think it’s great, and it’s definitely worth trying out. Do you have any friends with vinyl/CDJs? Try them out, and see what suits your fancy. You might even find that you want to stick to controllers or some other unconvential setup (controller + mixer maybe?).

That’s an unconventional setup? :scream::confused:

I see way more people playing with just an X1 (or two) and a mixer than I see playing with all-in-one-controllers.

Well, to be fair, it’s not terribly unconventional, but it’s not CDJ/Vinyl/all-in-one controller was what I was getting at.
