Clarification on ASIO please.

Clarification on ASIO please.

Not detailed in existing threads, so could I get clarification please -

  1. Audio Device options lists my S4 as ASIO, but there is also asio4all listed as an option - is this correct?
  2. Is an ASIO and an asio4all driver one and the same?
(There are claims on other threads that they are not)
  3. The official ASIO site has v2.1 as the latest version, ‘other’ sites list v2.9 - what is the latest version?
  4. Is it worth the cost of upgrading to USB-ASIO (DJ only, not producing)?

Thank you.

Traktor will only list ASIO4ALL as an option if you have it installed and available. You should use the S4’s native ASIO driver as it has been optimized. IIRC, if you have the S4 on when Traktor (v2) loads, the native S4 driver should be selected by default.

Thank you. And the asio4all option (rather than Reatltek) when fiddling with Traktor without my S4 connected I assume?

Hi Jonathan,

Just updating this thread for other users (I know you have already read it).

Great Article on the Blog For Windows Users - Page 5.

ASIO4ALL should only be used as a last resort.
