Connecting the S4 to an Amp

Connecting the S4 to an Amp

Just in a general sense, what is the best connection methods between the S4 and the amp, how long can you go, are there losses if you use cheap or poor cables, which output is best to use? and what does ‘balanced’ mean? Sorry if I have missed this anywhere else.

If you use the two balanced TRS 1/4" outs you can go a long way. If you use the RCA then I wouldn’t go very far.

Thanks for this guys, I am still confused, do you need to both the TRS outputs. I have bought this…

I don’t use the TRS outs, but I’m guessing you’ll need dual TRS ends and dual RCA ends. However, if you’re going TRS > RCA and you’re only going 5m, I don’t see why a simple RCA cable wouldn’t suffice.

To take advantage of the balanced outputs, your amp must accept a balanced input. It would work to use TRS - RCA adapters, but remember that you would need one for the left and one for the right channels, and if you used that system it would be no different to using the RCA outputs.
