Cover Art, is it good to delete it all?

Cover Art, is it good to delete it all?

I don’t use cover art when playing, it’s useless for me. And everytime I open Traktor I see this red alert on the bottom saying “COVER ART: picture file size too big”

I’m kind of a noob in all this tagging stuff, so, is it a good idea to delete all the cover art from the tracks in itunes before importing to traktor? Cover art can create some kind of bug or make my searching slower?

Thanks

Yes, cover art can be a problem and certainly doesn’t help with loading speed when searching.
But, many people like the visual aspect of it and it is true, cover image really sticks in your mind.

I personally delete every cover art before importing in Traktor (don’t even use itunes).

The error “COVER ART: picture file size too big” comes from the fact the embedded cover-art of these tracks is too big for Traktor.
That means, when they’re 500kB or more, u get this message.
U don’t need such big cover-arts anyway.
Look em up which tracks are giving this error, and delete their cover-art.
Search the cover-art up manually using discogs.com or google.com, and be sure they’re under 500kB.
My 2 cents.

U could also delete all the covers, and use my cover-arts - like a catch-in-the-eye for the Key they’re in.
Call it colorized key-code art…

I use Mixed In Key and analyse all my music 1st, before putting them into Traktor.

Then I import the tracks, do a consistency check on my collection, so the Keys of MIK show up under Key-text column.
I sort them by Key, select the keys 1 by 1, and right-click on it and import the right cover-art.

If u did it right u’ll end up with a collection that looks like this:

I’ve made color-codes from 1A/B to 12A/B which u can use as your cover-arts, available for download here:

Automated method with MP3tag u can read/use here: INITIALKEY to COVERART (Traktor) - Support - Mp3tag Community

^This is a pretty cool organisational system actually!

^^^holy shit…genius! this needs to be on the front page. It is sooo simple that it is perfect.

Well done that man. That is bloody clever.

Could you make the same for traktor key detection?

U should really re-consider using Traktor inbuild-key-detection when u read this article:

The latest Mixed In Key FTW!

…But u can always alter my key-cover-arts to your likings :sunglasses:

I know right! :sunglasses:

Damn! Awesome! Great idea!

For the OP, no idea.

I also don’t use cover art, I just don’t find it that useful for me, so I’ve deleted all of mine using mp3Tag (PC only). Just import your whole directory of music, highlight all tracks (ctrl + a), right click on the cover art box, delete, and then save tags to all files. Done!!!

For those who like the win-only MP3Tag and are using MacOSX - heres a link for a MAC-Version, ready for install:

I LOVE MP3Tag.

It’s only a guide though, then use my ears to tell me what’s really going on so not going to spend $60 on software that isn’t perfect either (mik) when I can use my ears.

you sir, deserve a cookie :+1:
well done

Mixed In Key 6 results:
"Major/Minor Triad Test: Perfect 24 out of 24 – every single key correct.
# of correctly analyzed tracks (vs human consensus): 58 (95%)"

That’s close enough to Purrfect for me

Why does it say 95% though if it’s perfect?

Read again :relieved:

Jesus Christ! I could not live with out cover art
