Creating DJ edits with Audacity

Dear DJTECH

Ive transisted from vinyl to digital over the past few months and would now like to begin editing some of my vinyl collection, looping extending etc.Is audacity good for this kinf of editing, im on a really tight bugdet at the moment, but can anyone recommend other software that may also be of some benefit?

Kind regards

Jahitty

if you are just going to do small edits with your tunes, I would invest in something like Ableton Live Intro. For $100 you can do what you want, plus a few extra tricks.

^^ This.

Trust me. You don’t want to try editing and extending tracks in audacity. Never works the way you want it to, and takes 10 times longer than anything else.

Pretty much the only thing you can do in Audacity (that’s useful to you) is some DSP and cut/copy/paste. There’s no time stretching or tempo control. Like they said before, go for a proper digital audio workstation. What OS are you using?

Sony soundforge
Bias peak pro (bit more expensive but more tools / effects and excellent quality timestretching)
