Not sure how long they’ve been in there and I don’t remember seeing this announced anywhere, but you can order custom Midi Fighters from the store with faders and knobs now.

I can understand that there will be bills to pay the $ per hour of whoever is assembling this.. and the quality is definitely there… Believe me I love the way the new silicon case makes the midi fighter feel really solid. But for $449 I could buy 3 APC 20 units on amazon and have cash to spare plus free shipping.

For that same price, you could get two midifighters, the components necessary to modify them, a soldering iron, and acrylic for the faces.

To the people complaining about the price, you’ve got to be kidding me. First off, i’m pretty sure they’re not going to be using cheap components like the apc20/40. Higher end faders/pots are expensive. Same with custom cut acrylic, check out this link for a cost idea…
And plus, the money is going back to djtechtools, helping run this great community.

I never said the midi fighters were cheaply made… and I understand fans of djtt wanting to help pay the bills to keep this site and service.
In terms of bang for your buck though… This is extremely overpriced… put in a little more money and you have an s4 and the software to use it.
I am happy they do make it available for people who dont really care about spending money. Im the type that spends alot of money on gear already..spent easilly 15k on audio gear this year already. But nowhere in all the purchases save the original midi fighter did I ever feel I was paying too much for what I was getting
Adding a fader isn’t just about soldering a fader to the expansion ports, you’ve got the PCB the fader is soldered to, the mounting hardware firmly mounting the fader to the acrylic, the custom cut acrylic top plate with quality laser cuts, assembly, testing, shipping and our guarantee of an out-of-the-box working item.
You’d be hard pressed to do all that yourself from scratch for $60 (I know, I’ve tried). Plus we’ve already made all the mistakes possible and learned from them, so you don’t have to!
Yes, it’s expensive compared to remapping some mass produced item. If it’s too expensive for you than this product isn’t for you. For some people it’s a good value way to get precisely what they’ve been dreaming of. It’s kinda like the difference between Couture and Consumer fashion.
I believe that the price is justified for the following reasons.
-They are what you could call ‘special editions’ i.e you will not find these in most dj booths. are in most cases anywere.
-They are custom built. Each and everyone is hand made. Not mass produced on some assembly line. Customer care from djtechtools is the best i have ever recieved im curently the owner of a vci 100 se.
-Overall they are cool. Im a person who wouldnt spend this kind of money on a midi fighter but people want them and are willing to pay.
As a last point keep up the good work djtechtools

Price is a little off… I wish you guys would have had like 4 presets that were cheaper, but this is a nice addition for lazy people… I’ll just mod my own though

Once again to all the people bitching about the price, here’s an alternative. I’ll build you one 16 arcade buttons, 4 faders/pots, 4 additional buttons/switches, for $250.
Here’s what you’ll get.
Dremmel cut acrylic.
Shitty arcade buttons(not sanwa’s).
Noisy faders/pots(surplus crap that will send out crazy midi signals)
Cheap buttons(hard to press, won’t recognize half of the presses after about a week)
No LED feedback on any of the controls
Midi Cable hook-up and no USB
No open source firmware
Really, i woudn’t build that for anybody. Not only because i would never want to compete with DJTT, but i don’t want to deal with all the complaints about parts malfunctioning.
If it’s too much for you, then you’re obviously not looking for custom gear.
Custom gear is more expensive than retail, that’s the way it works. Next time you buy any gear, ask the seller to change some minuscule thing and they’ll laugh in your face.
I’ve been a musician for a pretty long time now, and i’ve purchased a few pieces of custom gear. And just as an example of how much more custom gear cost; my custom built Martin D-28 was over $5000, and a standard one goes for about half of that, but a standard one is not custom made for my hand.
So really what you guys mean by saying “Totally not worth that price.” Is, “I would never buy a piece of custom made gear.”
