The Canadian artist was on the receiving end of a fist in Brisbane.

Concluding his Australian tour with a gig at Creamfields Brisbane over the weekend, deadmau5, AKA Joel Zimmermann, was attending the afterparty at Birdee nightclub. On the 2nd of May he tweeted, “Thank god for creamfeilds tonight, coz the music at the afterrparty is fucking god awful.” Apparently, twittering about it wasn’t enough for Zimmermann, who then complained to the DJ who was spinning at the time. Later, the DJ responded by punching Zimmermann in the head.

This resulted in two more tweets:

“birdee nightclub in Brisbane… opening DJ came at me later in the night and decided to punch me in the back of the head. mistake”

“well the opening “dj” at the club decided to have a go at me. So fuck him and fuck that club. I left.”

A couple of things:

  1. That Aussie DJ doesn’t hit hard enough
  2. If Deadmau5 was complaining about the music, I take it as a sign it was actually good

He’s right up there with the current election results in my books: Lots of support from all the wrong places.

ha i think his production skills are rather impressive, but his attitude that hes better then everyone else in the dance community annoys me

unless it’s boxing or similar, when IS there a legit reason? Dude was being dick, and moaning to the world instead of direct to DJ.

I’m saying there is no legit reason to hit someone (Save self defence). Ignore it and be the bigger man. It’s just words.

That DJ lost the moral high-ground when he threw a temper tantrum and assaulted someone.

if you go to someones job and go out of your way to personally tell that person they suck…you deserve whatever comes to you.

Ill like to see the top rapper go tell a local rapper that they suck and lets grab some popcorn to see what happens next.

At no point did I say Deadmau5 was a big man. Merely bigger than the local dj who decided assault was a cool option.

Deadmau5 was clearly being a dick here. I’ve defended him before but this is a real douche move. Doesn’t mean I support him getting physically hit for it.

Bad mouthing other DJ’s publicly on twitter I would have said was seriously crossing the line. Yes, if you don’t like his / her style keep it to yourself but don’t walk in with your head up your own arse and think that you are resident DJ in Heaven supporting God.

I still find the story of Rusko and Deadmau5 fighting way more entertaining . . .

And since when do people on this forum give deadmau5, skrillex, or even a whole genre (i.e. dubstep) that respect. seems funny to ask him to do the exact opposite of what most poeple on here are doing. and i dont support the cause or the effect. but i literally laughed when i read that knowing how much hate really popular dj’s, producers, or genres get on this forum.

ahh makes me proud to be an aussie stand up for your rights and take shit from no one! for those who are interested the dude who done the damage is named james cameron the club was birdy num nums in brisbane and apparently deadmau5 sucked mega balls at creamfields oh and rusko is now friends with with an aussie dj on facebook new travels fast
