Dealer Pricing?
Hey everyone,
Where can I find a site with dealer prices for pro audio gear? I’m just curious about what kind of markup we’re paying for at local auth. dealers.
Thanks!
Dealer Pricing?
Hey everyone,
Where can I find a site with dealer prices for pro audio gear? I’m just curious about what kind of markup we’re paying for at local auth. dealers.
Thanks!
The two websites I browse for equipment.
I use those sites, too. But I was looking for non-upcharged item prices. Basically, I want to know what the authorized dealer pays the manufacturer for the product.
I suspect we’re paying between a 30 and 40 percent markup. Some places less than others.
You’ll be seriously lucky to be able to find that out … I daresay each dealer pays a subtly different price as well, depending on volume discounts, past deals etc.
Interesting, interesting… Sucks that we can’t just contact the manufacturer and get their pricing! Who wants to set up a fake company with me to get good deals??? hahha
hahaha nice idea but i doubt you´d have enough money to get good pricing since you´d have to order more than just one item of each ![]()
The absolute best prices are if you go through proaudiostar and call them
x2 if i have the full amount i call them up and they get me a steal of a deal.
if i need to make a few payments and dont want to pay interest(or put on a credit card) i use zzsounds. they do a 4-8 month play as you pay program. their prices are low as well.
with retail bigger the chain is the better margins they have bcthey buy in bulk at corporate and supply to their stores. one good thing about the internet or certain retailers is, you might pay a tad more but their return policy or warranty is what makes me people pay the extra.
I agree. They definitely can get you a pretty good deal and are by far the lowest prices around if you call. That’s who I buy my stuff from usually.
BUT! Still looking for those dealer prices. Really just to see what kind of upcharges we’re paying for these products.
Any dealers on the forum care to share??
does it really matter?
Of course it matters. If you know someone’s bottom line price you can haggle for a good deal where both parties benefit. I guess if you don’t care about throwing a bunch of money away then it wouldn’t really matter. But, im not rich so it definitely matters to me.
Ya dig?
alright whatever man to teach his own i guess
As someone who has access to dealer pricing on dj gear (from work), i can tell you that dealer pricing is confidential, if a dealer is know to be giving out said info then they can easily have their authorization pulled.
I WISH!!! if the market ran on msrp then then this would be true all day every day, but it runs on map…
a little more then half of that is more realistic.
not true… if you knew what items xyz should cost me then you would want to pay that price or very little over that. fact of the matter is that items xyz cost a certain price, plus shipping, plus the space to store them, plus the electricity to store them, plus the workers to store them, plus the workers to ship them once you order, plus the transportation cost from the manufacturer to us… at the end of the day that percent over dealer cost slims down A LOT… dealer cost and real cost are 2 very different numbers.
if you would like to pm me how much you want to pay for an item i will let you know if its a good deal or not but i will by no means let you know what cost is on it.
Thnx for the positive feedback bigboibbp. I don’t have anything in particular im looking at right now, but that may change soon. If i can, though, I’d like to take you up on your offer when the time comes. Thanks!
anytime man
Wait so just curious, earlier people were talking about proaudiostar and getting great deals by calling them up. I mean, is it really that simple? Just call them up and talk with them and they’ll hook someone up?
pretty much
I don’t think they can advertise what they are really willing to sell their products for. If you email them they will also give you deals but better to call.
When I was in NY I would go to their loft in brooklyn and they would give even better cash deals. They have grown a lot since then and are still one of the best businesses I have ever bought from period.
They must be making a ton of money.
Not THAT simple, but pretty much haha. Give em a call, ask for Nolan, tell him Patrick from MI referred you. He’s always been a freaking huge help with my orders.
It really is that simple, knowing someone doesn’t really mean much since they will give the same deals to just about anyone who asks. haggling skills also help since they will do whatever they can over the phone to make the sale.
