My latest madness incorporating a combination of hardware and software options.
I love the sweeping bassline from the Alpha Juno 2, but it really did wonders on making the kick and hats disappear. Lesson learned.

totally diggin it, really nice sounds. the breakdowns are sweet..great overall feel in the main track. but yah , cant feel the kick very much…did you sidechain compress the bass at all?

Yeah, I did everything between the bass and kick. Sidechain, increase the sidechain, cuts in kick’s fundamental and some secondarys as well as 3k, dynamic EQing during the bass sweeps.
In retrospect, even though I really liked the bassline, there was just too much sweeping for my still fairly inexprienced mixing capabilities. Should have probably re-recorded with less modulation, but I’m stubborn. 
When sidechaining doesn’t do the trick, I zoom the fuck in and automate the volume. Pain in the ass, but very effective none the less.
On another note, pretty laid back track. I like it.
I did that too.
Volume, EQ and sidechain, and that still didn’t fully do the trick = wrong sound.
But I still think it’s cool.
