Denon SC 2000 controller
Any thoughts on the SC 2000 anyone?
already running the kontrol X1 with traktor, im thinking of adding the SC 2000 to use the other 2 decks, w loops, effects, etc…
does the job wheel control loop size as well? like a cdj?
is this a good buy?
on top of it, I always like to throw in a scratch here and there…figured it could work well w traktor..
thoughts on the sc 2000?

Haven’t used one, but it looks perfect for Traktor, seriously considering one myself.
You should be able to map the jog wheel to control loop size no problem.

I don’t think so, but if you google “custom flight case” you can have one made pretty inexpensively
I used a road case designed for the DNS-1200’s. I just built some custom risers to bring them to the same level as the mixer. I was able to hide my sound card and USB hub underneath as well.

It does if you program it to. IHNFC if the default TSI does, but I’d bet it doesn’t.

I was pleasantly surprised by its build quality, to be honest, as it was a blind buy for me (had never seen it live).
it feels very sturdy as its surface plating is made of metal, while it is heavy enough so it wont move when messing around with it live. jog and pitch control: very nice feel, and very accurate.
all the other buttons feel as they should. i was a bit unsure before i got it, about their quality as they are made of rubber. however they are the standard buttons that denon uses on their cdjs, so no worries about that!
i’m only having some trouble getting used to the fx knobs as they feel quite stiff when pressed in, and the fact that they click when turned annoys me (as i used to have a xone 1D, with normal knobs). however i’ll get used to it soon enough (i hope).
to sum up, it’s definitely worth its money. i dont think youll get anything better than that at that price. and the touch sensitive jog combined with the long pitch fader, makes it a great choice for a 1deck controller. meanwhile the different colors for the 2 decks make it very easy to use for 2 decks simultaneously.
*ive only found one minor bug: when using the shift button and the fx knobs to select different fx, there seems to be a crackling noise in the audio output. however, if done manually (using the mouse) that is not a problem.
The SC-2000 is really great for the money…

And who the f++k over at Denon was in charge of making the manual.
Absolutely NO usable info regarding how to make LEDs light up. Theres some bullsh+t nonsence about midi mapping in the manual that make absolutely NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER.
Leave it to Denon to feature “Soft Rubber Buttons” in a time where we all know that “Soft Rubber Buttons” SUCK.
And leave it to Denon make a unit with all this programability…and then…have no sensible way of implementing it…Brilliant work Denon..
Im not some knob here and I have a great understanding of midi mapping…but the manual is completely useless.
Heres a thought Denon…perhaps offer some clues as to how to map this thing…Ummmm maybe you’d sell more product…and NOT piss people off in the prossess…

crying helps me deal with the fact that a company can release a product that they claim is “totally midi mappable” with TraktorPro…and then realize there is no usable documentation to support midi mapping within Traktor Pro.
Its really stubid and sad (in my case REAL tears) no matter how ya spin it…
BTW whambulance is pretty funny…
I love the buttons and they are really reactive, i love doing rapid mashup/juggle style stuff with them.
As for mapping, trakors “midi learn” feature does the hard work.
(1) create the mapping for the effect/whatever you want.
(2) add OUT and copy all the details from the above mapping
works everytime for me, and I never have to use the CC codes given in the manual.
I suggest buying the Traktor Bible and learning how to map correctly from there, it’s a lot less frustrating and you won’t feel the need to vent in a forum not connected with either NI or Denon …
other than that, have a great time with the units, they are rock solid, feel great when used out “live” - and obvioulsy they are built to last like all Denon pro gear.

As an ex user of ther ADJ VMS4, i know what shit feels like. The VMS4 people say the Denon copies them … No Denon got it right, it works direct from the box, feels fantastic, the jogs run true and it’s only a $200 more (list price). So for the money there’s nothing to compare … Denon wins on all counts.
