first, i have it mapped so that when M1=0 the all the leds are red and when M1=1 they are green, however once i hit my shift key (so M1=1) and then go back (so M1=0) all the lights are still green! they need to be red again wso i know what deck im on
second, i made it so all the leds for the buttons that work my cue points are at 0- 15 on the bottom and -1-1 (for max brightness) on the top. however not all the leds are the same brightness. for example on layer 1, button 5 is at max and the others are a bit lower and on layer 2, button 3 is brighter. note: ive seen the other buttons at max brightness before, so its not like they cant go that high.
Since this may very well be pretty much identical to the final release, please let me know if your are having any problems.
Using it is fairly simple, but it does require a virtual midi cable like Midi Yoke which is at http://www.midiox.com/
It can support up to four midi controllers at once and is divided into 4 module’s. You can disable 3 of the module’s to prevent any unwanted midi messages from occurring. Once you have midi yoke installed. Start the application, before opening Traktor. First turn on/off any module’s needed. Set the “To Traktor” to the Midi Yoke that you want.. Set the “From Traktor” to another Midi Yoke. Now set both “To Controller” and “From Controller” to you’re midi controlle. Now do the same thing for the next modules/controllers, but use different Midi Yoke’s.
Once you have everything setup you can save the preset by clicking the save button, then you can name the preset and put it in the folder of your choice. To load a preset, just click the load button, then select and load the preset file, then click the apply button. Now that you have the application all setup, all you have to do is change the in and out ports in Traktor’s Controller Manager from your midi controllers, to the Midi Yokes that you have selected. The “To Traktor” is the “In-Port” in Trakor, and The "From Traktor’ is the “Out-Port”.
i never thought i would need your fix. go figure.

also, now i feel like im being annoying but, i think some of my midi messages on my dicers and my total control are the same (random lights have been going on/off during my testing of my mapping) is there a way to keep them from doing that?
for example, my total controls play button stays lit all the time… and upon loading a song, the cue and cue play buttons stay lit too (not sure how i go them to turn off)
In your control manager you’re going to have to have a separate page on the drop down menu at the top for the dicer and the total control. Then on the in and out ports set them for the appropriate controllers(or midi yokes if you’re using my app).
Well if the second one you plug in is called “USB Audio Device 2” then it should be fairly simple.
Plug in the first device(total control), wait for it to register. Then plug in the second one(dicer).(remember what order you plug them in, cause you’ll have to do it the same way every time)
In my app, disable modules 3&4. In Module 1 set the “To Controller” & “From Controller” to “USB Audio Device” (not 2). Then set the “To Traktor” to Midi Yoke 1, and the from Traktor to Midi Yoke 2. Now on module 2, set the “To Controller” & “From Controller” to “USB Audio Device 2”. Then set the “To Traktor” to Midi Yoke 3 and the “From Traktor” to Midi Yoke 4.
NOW SAVE THE PRESET, do this by clicking save, selecting a folder to put it in, and naming it. (When you load it in the future, remember to hit apply after you load to apply the settings.)
Now on to the bigger problem. In traktor’s control manager, it seems that you have all of the controllers in the same “Device” drop down menu.
What you’re going to have to do, is put the Total Control and Dicer in seperate “Generic Midi”(you can rename it by clicking the edit button) slots.
What i would do is; on your mapping with both controllers click “edit” then “export” and save that mapping, now click “edit” then “edit comment” and rename it “Total Control”. Now delete all of the functions that you have mapped to the dicer. Leaving you with just the total control functions.
Now click “add” then “import” and load the mapping you saved before. This time click “edit” then “edit comment” and name it dicer. Then delete all of the functions mapped to the total control.
Now that you have a device mapping in traktor for each controller it will be much easier to map in the future.
Now select the Device mapping for “total control” in the drop down menu, and set the “In Port” to the Midi Yoke 1 and the “Out Port” to Midi Yoke 2.
Same with the dicer, except “In Port” Midi Yoke 3 and “Out Port” Midi Yoke 4.
In the future, make a separate device mapping for every midi controller.
i do have them as separate maps. but i havnt tried it with the yoke yet, thanks
but do i actually need to open midi yoke EVER for anything? theres no shortcut or anything
and as for the dicers, i screwed up the set up. i did it like it was in your pic, but i replaced the windows thing with the audio device that corresponds with the right controller (i would put the dicer in 1st and have that be ‘audio device’)
only now each button plays a piano note at the same time…
im not joking, each of the 5 buttons is a note.
i closed traktor and it was still a piano. i closed my browser, still a piano. closed your software, back to normal.

EDIT: i changed the channels from 1 and 2 to 3 and 4 and it fixed the problem. but that was funny.
EDIT2: i ficured out what caused the brightness thing. it turns out that even though everything should be at max brightness, it wont go that that high if i have a grid marker and it make the grid marker go at max oh well
Turning OFF the “bottom” two ports within your program does NOT turn OFF the piano keys…in fact this program seems to have a mind of its own as everytime I open it, there seems to be a new set of issues that require me to sit there and have to change every setting like 14 times in order to find the correct configuration.
And there is absolutely no rime or rhythm to the configuration because it changes evey time I turn on my computer.
Also the save feature is great and all…but since the whole program seems to change to a different state evey time I turn on my computer, there is no sense in even having a save feature…
OK well just wasted 5 hours trying every configeration possible on this program…and I got as far as being able to play “Jaws” and “Mary Had A Little Lamb” on the “suprise” keyboard that has magically taken over my computer soundcard…
Not exactly the solution I was looking for.
At one point I was able to use both controllers without the “magic” keyboard sounds…I tryed to recreate the exact steps I used during that phase, but sure enough, since everything changes every time I restart the program (or my computer)…I was playing “Jaws” and Mary Had a Little Lamb" with pinpoint perfection…
Sorry that the instructions are so confusing.
First it’s important that you start the program and set it up before opening traktor. And if you’re using Windows XP, you must plug your controllers into the same ports each time: and you must plug them in, in the same order. If you do this every time, the save feature will work.
The problem some are having is with the MS synth.
To fix it:
Open the program,
Click File, Midi Setup,
Uncheck Microsoft Synthesizer and Microsoft GS Wavetable Synthesizer.
Close the Midi Setup window.
yeah, my fix before drews was to avoid using yokes 1 and 2
also while on the topic, of the button is yellow and says ‘on’ is it on, or is it telling me that if i hit it, then it will be on? this confused me because of the piano thing
