I’ve got a little question for you all.
Im a Bedroom dj from Holland and music is really my life.
I started Dj’ing/mixing i think about 2 years ago.
Nowadays I use a Numark Total Control with a Laptop and Virtual DJ.
But i feel now my controller limits my capabilities and I want to move on too a professional controller.
I’ve got a budget of about 500-800 Euros (670-1070 in dollars).
I’m looking for a full system (2 turntables + mixer) that i can hook up on my laptop and use software with it. What do u guys recommend?
On the forums i read that a lot of you guys use traktor, what do you think? I’m still oke with Virtual DJ or should I switch to traktor?
If you are happy with Virtual DJ you don’t have to switch (it will cost you more as you’ll see below). You should however take a look at the free demo and broaden your knowledge.
Turntable:
The Technics 1200/1210 MK2 are the default devices here, however since they aren’t produced anymore prices have gone up. There’s a good chance that they will last you a lifetime. There might be cheaper options but others have to help me out on this since I never had other TTs.
Mixer:
These days I recommend Numark X5. It is a two channel mixer which offers a great quality at a very low price.
Soundcard:
You’ll need a dedicated soundcard. Even among non-Traktor users the Traktor Audio 2/6/10 are great in terms of sound-quality, drivers and build-quality. You even get Traktor Pro 2 for free currently if you buy any of those.
So all in all it looks like this
2x used Technics 1210 MK2 ~600€
1x Numark X5 180€
1x Traktor Audio 2 220€
2x Timecode for Virtual DJ 20€
TOTAL: 1.020€
This is above your budget but you could probably replace the turntables with cheaper ones if anyone has a good recommendation.
If you want to use timecode with Traktor Pro, you’d have to use the Certfied Upgrade Kit for another 300€.
I couldn’t find a way to upgrade from Traktor Pro 2 (which comes with the TA6) to Traktor Pro Scratch 2 or Traktor Scratch DUO 2.
Maybe i should have been more clear, but im not really looking for vinyl players.
I was more thinking in the direction of Numark, Traktor Kontrol, Denon.
These complete systems with 2 players and a mixer build in together.

I own a Numark DJ IO soundcard. Does it get the job done or u still recommend buying a Traktor soundcard?
Oh sorry I mistunderstood you.
So you want an All In One DJ solution.
There are a crapload of different controllers available.
You’re also perfectly fine with your Numark DJ IO then.
+1 on the hands-on. Its nice to be given a list of controllers to buy, its not so nice buying something you don’t end up liking. Find a shop near you that has demo models out, and give 'em a play.
