DJTT Live 7 Smart Mixer

Hey Guys,

Just thought i would update you all on this smart-mixing/smart-compression i have been working on. I was trialing a 3 band compression for a while there but i think it ended up being 1 too many bands to have to worry about - so now i have just updated the live7 smartmixer to have 2 band compression and 1 frequency selection knob ala Moldover style.

I canned using the EQ3 as a frequency splitter and made my own using a mixture of Abletons Auto filter and phase inversion for fully transparent frequency splitting.

Just finished these changes today and i am pretty happy with the results :slight_smile:

Now i am looking for some people to test the setup - all you need to own a copy of Ableton Live 7, this setup uses only effects included inside live so there is no need to download additional vsts.

Leave a message here or PM me if you wish to take part in the beta testing.

If anyone tried the Belvario setup and didnt like it I urge them to try this setup out as i believe it to be a vast improvement in audio quality. This is a completely remodeled smartmixer i created from the ground up and not just a version of Belvario’s setup using Live7 sidechain compression instead of the SSS sidechain compressor.

Also you should really write a readme/tutorial explaining what everything does & how it all works.

I will definately be using this as part of my new live setup. (When Ableton get back to me about my ableton 7 Purchase :? )

Also any update on the idea of automating effects sequences ? Cos thats bad ass.

I’ve played around with Belvario’s smartmixer over at abletonlivedj.com and tried my own version with the native compressor instead of the one he uses but its never quite hit the spot. I’d be up for giving yours a spin if you don’t mind?

Got it downloaded last night but had a bit of trouble with some Java permissions and the like so won’t be able to get it running till the weekend, sorry was hoping to give a quick shout this evening on feedback…
