This will help us know exactly what overlay you guys would love to see so we can do our very best at providing overlays that we know you guys will love !
Thank you in advance for participating in the survey
I would buy an overlay, Im just unsure about the rough textured looking background, they make the lettering look not as neat and tidy. I however would like an overlay, Im loving the silver DIY overlays as they don’t look as cheap as the new ones with blue lettering. In all honesty (I know it’s not financially practical) I think you would make a killing on new metal plates.
edit * I havn’t actually seen an overlay in real life, I was going off the arcade edition picture and after a second look the lettering looks pretty tidy, I think the blurry picture gave me a misleading opinion.
Would this be like Styleflip where a user could send in a DIY JPG that you would make an overlay with?
Cus im sooo dubious about that company and i want a camouflage VCI.
We looked at using Sytleflip for out overlays but were very unhappy with quality, that made us keep looking and we stumbled across these overlays that were using at the moment.
The problem is that we can only get these printed in large numbers and which makes individual users prints not possible unless we can get them custom printed by another company. We are looking into the possibility but theres no more information than that at this stage - so dont get your hopes up or make any plans based on if its going to happen or not because we dont even know if its possible yet.
Yup that and its no ordinary print job - they have to be able to print onto the overlays and get a nice bond that isnt going to smear or rub away like the print job on the EG overlays. Not easy, but were looking into it - hopefully it can come to fruition.
Any chance for changeable overlays? Like, that might lock in place instead of being adhesive? I’d totally have different colors and kinds depending on the gig
2 possible solutions, but not sure if they would work and still retain quality.
completely rigid. Could be a good idea but would have to be a decent thickness which would affect the travel of the buttons.
magnetic and semi-flexible. Could possibly work if the VCI was magnetic, and the overlay was designed to allow a lot of space for slider and jog wheel travel. Would be switchable, but hard to allign properly because of magnetism.
I dunno… maybe making it rigid and the same size as the body of the VCI. The jog wheels and faders would hold it close to in place, I’d think. Maybe just use adhesive magnets on the sides, near the screws, to hold them in place.
Hey regarding the style flip overlays… I finally got mine. I also have all the Djtechtools available overlays What I can tell you is that the quality is completly diferent.
In favor of styleflip I have to say that their product ( custom sticker overlay) was not specially designed with a vci in mind. It was thought to be a sticker-overlay that could be cut for lots of gear… so the final result is not as ideal as the djtechtools overlays which were thought for the vci.
So I will post a small thread with pics in order to make a proper comparison,
but for now I can tell you that the quality is not as good, the sticker is not rigid and it is very easy to tear, also the application is extremly hard (I thought I was going to loose it a couple of times). As the genious guys from style flip decided to cut the overlay in 3 sections!!! (remember the metal plates from the vci you need to remove to install the Djtt overlay? the ones on top of the transpose and top part?) Well style flip does not consider removing this plates so they cut the overlay in sectons to fill this plates…
Regarding on the printing… here I have to take my hat off.. the result was awesome… my desing looked perfect. Finally waht made me happy was thatu they cuted the cirular part of the overlay correspondant to the jogwheels… At the beggining I though that they were useless, but decided to give it a try and stick them on the back part of the jogwheels so I could flip them for exhibition purposes in case that the touch sensor would get blocked. But guess what… It dind´t… I just adjusted the sensibility and the touch sensor jogs are working with the overlay sticked on top… My vci looks sick…
I will post a thread with a comparison and detailed pics soon. BTM line.. the Djtt overlay is beetter quality and easy to apply, and they will not tear.
Styleflip, looks great, but is is bad quality, will tear soon and it is too too too hard to apply. And the most relevant fact… IT TOOK 4 MONTHS TO ARRIVE…
