The A&H xone k2 looks pretty close … just missing a xfader and the master output lighting
Yeah I had a look at the K2, functionally it would work, I just think they missed a trick with it. The top row of rotary’s (Which I would plan to use as gains) are not smooth like the 3 below (Which I would map as the 3 eq’s)
The pads are nice and responsive, but would be a bit redundant when used with an X1 as this will do all of the selecting/effects.
Would like to see NI/Pioneer come up with a version… NI’s new mixer looks cool but will be priced HIGH!
That’s because A&H’s main goal wasn’t to make a MIDI mixer but an addon controller. Using making the top row regular knobs wouldn’t work in all scenarios since a lot of people use autogain.
K2 really seems like exactly what you’re looking for, less the level meters and x-fader.
They haven’t officially released a price on it yet, and NI gear can always be bought at 15-30% off the street price. That might be a good choice for you, too.
Thanks for the reply Padi, but have you ever used JUST the autogains within Traktor? Your sound is almost all over the place..
Understandable that the K2 wasn’t designed to be a MIDI mixer, but it would be nice for a manufacturer like NI or Pioneer to make one.. They have MIDI controllers for everything else, other than the actual mix itself..
Spoke to a guy in my local equipment store (decks.co.uk)
… He said it will retail at £650-£700… Ouch
It gets it right on most of my library, needing only adding/taking 1db on a few odd ones and having that saved you shouldn’t need to touch it again. Keep in mind autogain applies to a track only after you have analysed it, if you loaded it before that you need to do it again for the changes to apply.
Autogain works great for me.
And I think the Behringer CMD series is pretty close to what you want.
jojo,
Saw this a while back, although it is what I need, would like to see something like this from NI or Pioneer!
Opinions on Behringer build quality?
nem0nic keeps saying that these CMD series controllers are going to be top notch. I haven’t seen one yet, but I have a feeling they’ll be good.
Have they released those yet? haven’t seen anyone rocking one either.
Nope not yet and Christmas is just around the corner. Not sure how much the holiday season factors into releasing DJ products though.
No soundcard in there though.
OP - I don’t think there’s anything exactly like your pic on the market atm.
I like the look of this one, it’s basicly a VMS4.1 without the deck controlls.
American Audio MXR-14
could map the mic knobs for FX parameter
Exactly, no soundcard.. They really missed a trick there.
Mains power - No BUS power! Ok for home use but not practical for a mobile, modular set up..
Hes looking for an all in one, most if not all all in ones have external power supply, only a few can work straight from BUS
I wouldn’t trust bus power for any more than home use TBH I though the Behringer uses external power as well for the built in USB hub?
The Behringer’s are coming with a 3yr warranty now, so guess they feel confident enough about the quality factor ![]()
And Bloody hell that American Audio is cheap ! .. under $350, and its a real mixer - me likey, never seen it before now.
