i set my laptop up with dual screens. but i have my laptop on my right side and my 2nd monitor 4 feet to the left
my computer thinks that its the other way around
moving between screens is confusing because to go to the screen on the left i have to move my mouse off the right edge of the screen on the right
but now i can mix with traktor on 1 screen and my email on the other
im kidding about the email thing
well it doesn´t matter wich monitor is in front of uâŚso the laptop still can be on ur desk. u can easily change ur screen settings in the ur in the graphic menue
Right click on desktop â properties â settings tab
Youâll see two monitors labeled 1 & 2. Drag the icons to arrange them how you want. Near the bottom of the box youâll see two check boxes, one labeled use this device as my primary monitor and the other labeled extend my desktop onto this monitor. Select the appropriate check boxes for each monitor and you should be good.
This picture is from Windows 7 but it should be similar on windows xp. You just rightclick, select properties and then the settings tab instead of just rightclicking and selecting screen resolution.
I also only have one screen plugged in but I think that in combination with me describing stuff should be enough.
If if do Rightclick > Properties > Settings (the tab on the far right) youâll see something similar to this picture above but there should be two boxes (screens) in it. Just click and hold the mousebutton down and drag one of the screens to the other side of the other screen and all your issues should be fixed.
Okay, Iâve looked into it more properly and tried myself using VMWare. XP does not support display duplication natively, you need to enable that though your graphics card drivers instead.
If you have an nvidia card (like me) just rightclick on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel and then it should be somewhere under the category âDisplayâ to the left (donât have a second monitor that isnât too much of a hassle to plug into right now to try myself).
I would guess you can reach Catalyst Control Center (ATiâs equivalent of the nvidia control panel) the same way and I know that Intel GMA settings are reached that way too (itâs like that on my fathers netbook).
i have ATI
when i right click the only special option is properties, but i can go to the display settings and then click advanced and see âati radeon x1270 propertiesâ
then i can get to the catalyst control center
i seem to be able to do alot from there, but i dont have the time te really explore it at the moment
Under the advanced properties there should be an option to âmirror displaysâ or something similar. You may have to dig around a little bit. Although IMO it would be nicer to have the display extended since then you can have different applications open on different monitors. You might also have to choose options under the advanced settings for your graphics card to choose which display is your main monitor.
Edit: Now that I think about it, if you donât have a the box checked to extend display, you should be able to check the box to make it your main display. Or you might have to choose different combinations until you finally are able to check the box to make it your main display. I know there is a way to do it on XP, I used to do it all the time, but I mostly use a mac now and canât remember exactly what all the steps are.
In the bottom of the box, you will see two checkboxes Use this device as my main monitor and the other scored Extend the desktop onto this monitor. Also, only one display connected, but I think in combination with my description of the commands should be sufficient.
