Dubstep BPM in Traktor

Dubstep BPM in Traktor

Why is it that some of my dubstep tracks are set as 70 BPM and others 140BPM? Is this an error?

It’s because you haven’t narrowed down the BPM detection range.

make the range 120 - 160 and you should be fine.

or go to the tracks listed as 70, go to grid and click x2

it’s easy to change mid set anyway just press the divide or times button in the cue option to change it to desired bpm

whats dubstep?

Britney Spears new single.

THAT explains it!

it’s just how some tracks appear to the detection, both bpms could be considered ‘technically’ correct. but 140 is the standard.
saying that, of the few dubstep tracks in my collection some are gridded at 70 on purpose so if they get used they pitch up and sound more like grime than dubstep…

If you listen to the actual drum beat in dubstep you’ll quite often find that it’s at 70bpm, but the bassline runs at 140. It’s one of the defining characteristics of dubstep that differentiates it from other more breakbeat based genres.

But yeh, not an error, just change your analysis parameters for new tracks and click the x2 button in the grid panel for existing ones.

dub is 140 bpm halftime. so set it to 140 but its drum loops are half time which is why traktor thinks 70

aside from the song, i think we can for the most part agree, when shes not on drugs, shaving her hair off, or being a mom - she’s a half way good looking.

you saying moms/mums aren’t good looking?

Please this is a really dumb question. When I saw the thread I had to click just to laugh and I was not disapointed

not helpful…

Not at all sir. I just like to keep my Britney fantasies as dirty as possible without children in the picture (that’s frowned upon in society) :stuck_out_tongue:

some of them are produced at 70bpm, which is half of 140 meaning its basically the same and mixes together anyway, its the same sorta thing as when people mix certain r&b tunes with drum and bass, u just match one r&b beat to every 2 d&b ones, if the track can be doubled and stays in range its mixable
