"- Ean Golden -
(djtechtools.com, eangolden.com)
Founder of djtechtools.com godfather of the controllerism movement. Ean’s accomplishments in the DJ industry are world renowned. He introduced the midi-fighter controller in 2009 with industry leading build quality and a ground-breaking mapping. Propelled by Ean’s mind-blowing live perfromances Midi-Fighter was an instant success. He followed up in 2010 with the Novation Dicer which is now the industry standard for digital vinyl djs. One year later Ean worked closely with Native Insturments to bring us a product that literally reinvented digital DJing. Traktor S4 is to digital DJin what the iPhone was to cellphones, hands down the most revolutionary thing to hit the DJ world in the past decade. It distilled down all of the fundamental digital djing interfaces into a single piece of hardware with one USB cable to rule them all ! Traktor S4 has gone on to be the number one selling all-in-one controller in a category it invented. Ean continues to bring us revolutionary product developments through his own djtechtools including revamped Midi-Fighter controllers, custom high visibility knobs, and a curated selection of dj accessories - only the best of the best.

His live performance uses a palette of custom controllers: various bass heavy genres are effortlessly blended together into a show that merges art and technology in a meaningful way. Part rock show, part controllerism performance and part dj journey, Ean really puts everything on line at every performance taking it far beyond a traditional dj.

Thanks for the heads up! Think I may actually be able to make it out to this!

I have classes that day or i’d definitely go!

Not wanting to piss on the fire…

S4 wasn’t really the first Controller to break the mold.

M-Auido’s Xponent was the real first game changer.

Make sure to record and upload for those of us not in san fran

This is gonna be crackin! Who’s going? It would be great to meet some of you DJTT guys in person!

Ill try too but I gotta clear any recordings with Ean beforehand.

@Will_D looks like xponent might have beaten s4 to market, but I dont think it made nearly the waves that S4 did. And its hard to deny Ean’s involvement in creating the market trend that helped create the xponent and s4.

All n All its gonna be awesome night for DJTechTool fans, the rest of the lineup - myself included is gonna be on S4. And i assure you we have lots of cool tricks up our sleeves as well.

just got added to this lineup for the night… so incredibly stoked and honored to be warmin up the decks for mr golden.

massive shoutouts to aplus, the bangers’n’mash crew, chwyrvtmns, and ean golden for throwin this down.

and i agree with others… it would be cool to meet some fellow forum members in the flesh! come get down to the massive funktion1 system at public works in SF. it should be a good time!

So we had to move the venue to public works, which is probably a nicer spot and they got funktion 1 subs so its gonna be poppin.

Added tomfoolery to the lineup and hell be repping his custom dual vci-300 setup. Me (A+) Furan & Oh My! will be on traktor S4, ill be bringing some x1’s with some cool mappings im working on, and im not sure what Ean is on but last time I saw him, he was rocking dual midifighter pro’s and a DJM 900. So go get your presales only 5$ → http://residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?313272.

I’m pretty sure the xponent came out before or around the same time djtechtools was launched, so I doubt it.

@aplus… correction, ill be rockin the dual vci100 arcades, not dual vci300s.

awesome !

Giving the s4 a little more credit than its due IMO. The only real edge that the s4 has over other controllers is the tight integration with traktor.

yeeee

You and will_d have a good point, but tight integration with traktor was something that was needed to make controllers go mainstream. Not everyone has the knowledge or know how to find/download/tweak mappings.

I just checked and the Xponnent came out in fall of 2007 and the earliest post on djtechtools forums are from march 2008 with the blog a bit before around the time the xponnent came out, so it’s safe to say he had little to nothing to do with it. The xponnent was the first all in one controller with soundcard with complete software integration that really made controller DJing accessible and set the framework for everything else to come including the S4 years later.

The xponnent had complete integration with Torq 3 years before the S4 came out, not to mention all the itch controllers like the NS7 and VCI-300 before the S4. i think the xone: DX also came before the S4, it wasn’t as revolutionary as you think and NI was actually last to the game by quite a bit.

ok ill concede to everyone that S4 didnt invent the category, but its made for

  • 4 channel mixing
  • tight traktor integration
  • plug and play with 1 usb cable

ya theres the xone dx and that denon thing but imo they arent ergonomic and the buttons look cheap and they dont have 8 cue buttons. 4 cue buttons is a showstopper for me. Plus serato is kinda weak for controllerism, not that many effects, only 2-3 decks for the longest time, crappy UI and layout.

S4 was the first well made all-in-one 4 channel traktor controller.

The only thing that is on the same level as S4 is the yet to be release vci 400, which im keeping my eye on. cus on thing that bugs me bout s4 is they locked down the mapping. I understand that might have been necc. to get it out the door, but its been over a year and frankly Ean doesnt even use S4, a machine he designed and i think its got alot to do with the fact the mapping is locked down. I mean thats what DJTT is all about, making sick mappings for sick hardware. Glad to see VCI taking advantage of this glaring problem with S4. I may be a convert.

were only 2 days away and im super excited for Ean’s performance. It will be a great opportunity to see him at his finest headlining an event on a banging sound system.

He doesnt do that many performances so if you live in the northern california area dont miss out on this one. Ticket presales are only 5$ at http://bit.ly/cyvtix, and door tickets will be 7$.

YEE

found out i’ll be poppin my FUNKTION1 cherry at this gig!

Good Luck guys!

Video is a MUST…
