I say go with the fan page, being that people add you by clicking on “like” instead of you adding people and getting friends request and saying yay or nay to adding them. Plus Facebook gives you insights on you post. It shows you how many pople looked at your post and how many people interacted with you post. Plus you get to add apps to your fan page. I like the app that links my tunes from Soundcloud. And once you become a Mega Superstar DJ, you dont have to struggle with making a fan page, or having to deal with someone that made a fake fan page in your name.
and ffs don’t change your regular fb profile to reflect your dj “status.” I somehow managed to become friends with this vaguely lame group of local djs, and now I have a whole slew of people with “KrewRadioactive” as their middle name and have a whole bunch more with their dj name as their middle name.
Don’t do it guys. Don’t make me judge you. Just use a fuckin fanpage.
Fan page is definitely the way to go. People are good about following the pages they like will go to their updates section looking for updates. Also the plus of how when people like something. If a page shows up in a persons news feed it is easier for them to like your page from there as opposed to going to your profile and friend requesting. Less steps = more fans/followers. Also there is a friend cap on facebook of 5000. So feasibly it is easier to set up a page to allow for the most growth. granted it may not reach that number but if it does you may lose many followers if you ask them to switch to a page from the standard profile.
fan page you can add a “band page” tab kinda simmilar to myspace music, where you can have all your productions/mixes, and links directly to soundcloud, iTunes and stuff like that. you cant do that with a normal page i think.
