All in All quite good

Description

All in all its quite a step up for the MFT.
I am using the 8 Banks Firmware.
Sometimes, when I reconnect a MFT, I cannot see all Banks, but when reconnecting again all Banks appear.

Also sometimes I cannot scroll completely down to see the right Side Buttons but then its working again.
Sorry for not been precise enough for these bugs, but I simply cannot reproduce them and I have some other usb devices connected, so this might cause trouble. But it’s not smth I cannot fix with reconnecting.

So here are my further thouhts about the new Firmware and what I might add/change:

I think it’s a bug/not implemented yet, that, when you select the Bank with the Bank Selector, that the MFU is not updating the bank. but when having a dedicated Bank 1 (2/3/4..) side button the MFU selects the correct Bank.

Sometime (maybe this has to do with the current layout (Bright/Dark) of my Mac) the of field, where you type a CC/NOTE value is not readable. I have to confirm when exactly.
Maybe the background could be changed…
edit: when typing smth in the field the Fond and the background are black, which results to a complete black field.

My ideas for further implementations/changes:

Bank selection animation:
-its nice to have but I could be distracting… maybe an OF/OFF option would be cool
-change it to the same as Bank Selektor Page (1. Bank 1. Encoder upper left, etc)
not sure what might be the best solution here…

Add Bank selection toggle which enters the bank selector by pressing the corresponding side button and instantly exits when pressing the corresponding encoder.
It just happens to me, that I slide off the side button and with the press of a button to enter the Bank Selector but automatically exit/switch to the right bank, would make it easier to change Banks.

Re-Add Cycle Banks (but I am getting used to select the Banks with the Bank Selector ands its actual redundant with the Bank Selector…)

It would be nice to change the CC/Notes of the Side Buttons aswell.

For me personally 8 Banks makes the most sense as I am not using the Sequencer.

That’s it from my side after some days of usage

Looking forward to map all 8 Banks of my MFTs even further

Thanks for the feedback! Let’s split it up since there’s a lot to talk about

I’m aware of this and actively working on it. The current setup is a bit fragile since it has to contemplate the older firmware but I’m looking for a reliable workaround.

This is the bidirectional communication for bank control, Twister to MFU is rock solid and MFU to Twister has been improved on the next build. I’ll release that here once a few of the reported bugs are taken care of

A screenshot of this the next time you see it will help me isolate and fix this issue

Noted! Should be simple enough to add it as a global setting. Animations themselves are open to revision too

Noted!

I’m open to implementing this but it will have to be in the next Twister sprint in a few months. That’s when I plan on implementing the Native Mode too

when switching the banks with the side buttons, which are mapped to a specific Bank Number the MFU updates correctly.

But when I am using the Bank Selector. (With the overview of 8 banks in my case) the MFU does not follow the selected bank.

Sure. I just checked again and switched my appearances from white to black and cannot reproduce it right now.

Ah, I misread your original feedback. Bank Select was not sending MIDI for the MFU to listen to. Issue confirmed fixed and will be available testable on 2.91f later along Cycle Bank being back.

Bank animations can be disabled globally in 2.91f along with a fix for the bank button display issues.

Here is my screenshot attached for the editing / typing field.

these are screenshots from 2.91e but its the same for the latest release. just checked. not sure why or how this happens

Ok, this might be a M specific issue and your last screenshot reveals that it’s not just the black input boxes but you also lost the styling on the dropdowns. Do you always get the dropdown boxes with the blue chevrons or is it intermittent like the other issue? My point is it might be linked and point to a bigger problem. I’m compiling x86(intel) only since some dependencies have no universal builds yet and your Mac uses Rosetta to run it so it might introduce some quirks

Screenshot below is how it should render.

Switching these dependencies to universal so the app can run natively without any translation layers is still pending on my end

The main issue is, that sometimes the midi fighter utility renders correctly and sometimes not.

Found a probable solution that doesn’t require the universal upgrade so it’s a quicker fix to this cosmetic issue. I’ll post a link of a new build for you to test here in a bit.

The universal upgrade is gonna happen later with the UI redesign.

Here is the test build. LMK if it stops the intermittent style issue.

Unfortunately it is still the same. As soon I am selecting a field to type in a midi channel or a value the background is black. and the font is black aswell.

it only makes a difference when I switch to a dark appearance. look at the indication field.

the dropdown menus are still the same as with the earlier version

So is light mode always broken when you open the app using it?

Yes it seems so.

Maybe another beta tester can confirm this.

I am still running Sequoia.

Thanks for confirming. I’ll have the team test it later today and keep you posted.

One final question @DBLU2000: After the bug appears, does toggling system light→dark→light clear it?

No, when switching from light-dark-light its the same as the initial light.

Let me know if this build addresses the problem.

It’s seems it’s not on all Ms running it via Rosetta since Tahoe doesn’t show this behaviour in our testing.

Hi

On the first run it looks like it’s fixed now!

Will report if something petter happens!

Thank you!

I moved away from OS dependent styles in favor of a custom one again so it should always look the same regardless of OS and cpu. Just happens to still be macOS “inspired”.

This is what you should be seeing
