Feedback on New Setup: Traktor + CDJ + Numark + Machine Mikro

What’s going on DJTT, I’m thinking of changing up my setup and what better group of people to speak with than fellow DjTech nerds

As I work in tech I can get away with that!

Anyways, I’ve been spinning a few years from Radio in college to party rocking clubs in NYC but as the saying goes “hard work good, and hard work fine, but first take care of head..”

And so as i’ve played with CDJs, Vinyl and a mixture of controllers in recent years, I think I’ve finally had it with Serato DJ’s shaky BPM readings, lack of integrations and overall blandness: I’m making the switch to Traktor!

So, I’m selling my DDJ-SX to pick up a NI mixer w/ Traktor vinyl time code so I can pair (1) CDJ, (1) Numark and (1) Maschine Mikro for live loops and beat matched loops on the fly.

In theory, I would be able to mix tunes just as easily as I could chop them up, add loops or even use a song to lead into an original track. I don’t scratch much (unless it’s Hip Hop on the decks), I’m not big on effects and above all; I mainly spin DeepTech.

Any experience with this?

Cheers,
Bryan Isaac

Sounds like a good plan I don’t see why that would not work likely a good route to go if want more tactile control… Just curious what cdj and numark?

Thanks for the reply and great questions.

Numark TT250USB is the turntable I’m considering since I’ll be using timecoded tracor vinyl and don’t scratch much.

CDJ 2000 was a lot of fun to play witrh but they aint cheap, may settle on the CDJ900 ultimately to get the screen, usb input and clean look (hey, if I invest in a CDJ it aint gonna be an 850 in silver lol).

So, overall a mix of classic and modern Djing and live play in one setup. The DDJSX is going to be for sale soon…

The 850k is pretty slick. Dont get the tt250 bruv. Def go with the atlp120 if you are looking for a decent quality budget turntable.

I personally never been fond of any numark turntable even they just fail and start to wear so quickly…

^Truth

After owning numarks in late 90s and seeing how even some of the Gemini decks retained usability over numarks… Honestly If someone gave me a new numark one to try or I could walk into a store and see one on a demo setup that’s takin custom abuse my opinion may change… I can remember walking into a guitar center and then having numark direct drive decks(purple ones) mated to a djm500 and the numarks barely be able to take being blown on without loosing consistency
