honestly mate stick with traktor, i started out with vdj and soon grew out of it, you can do so much mre with tp2, try this link for your tsi Numark Stealth TSI Traktor Pro (Improved)
download the tsi, open up your traktor settings and use the big import button to load it. try it out, i dont use the stealth myself but once you get to grips with the way it all works you can start your own mapping to do exactly what you want it to.
There is really no right or wrong way. Older DJ software programs required two soundcards in order to have a stereo output for both decks. Some programs would assign deck one on the left output and deck two on the right output. This of course, would bring forth a mono signal.
Try doing the Setup Wizard again, you can make an Aggrogate device (mac), or an ASIO4ALL device (windows) from 2 or more different soundcards. Only disadvantage is the big-ass latency.
hehe yeah im frustrated. you know u buy something and you just want it to work - thats hardely even the case - but still you want it.
And what a great amount of replys - best forum ever!!
so what i cant get going is : 1 track playing on my speakers whilst 1 track playing in my ears ( CUE, HEADPHONES, 2nd outport?)
so the soundcard ive got internally on my computer is a Sound blaster 5.1 i think, can i reprogram it to play 2 different outs? one for DECK A one for DECK B ? or how does this work?
then i bought a second usb edirol soundcard today coss logically i thought " 2 soundcards = 2 outports " and i was wrong.
Assuming you have a PC, you can use ASIO4ALL to use I/Os from multiple soundcards. You’d only need to use two outputs, though: one master, and one cue.
the guy at the store didint seem to know to much but he thought that would do the job.
i must admit, im kind of new to routing midi ports and I/O connections with front, rear, center,SW, post output etc etc. and i dont meen to seem to frustrated and now ive had 2 glasses of strong red wine so i should be more problem solver =)
word of warning, I would get rid of the soundcloud links before the mods kill you, and if looking for a mapping, I highly recommend mapping your own, its the only way to get it so you know it 100% and the exact way you want it plus you can be different to others!
ha i have a stealth, you just plug it in and run the traktor setup, choose an external controller and select numark and Stealth, complete the rest of it and its done. if you dont wanna mess with that click the big import button and browse to your traktor program file, open it up go to traktor (2 if bought) and go to documentation and then controller mappings and then numark and import the stealth.tsi.
people now days… if something doesnt work for them they just give up… geez.
also if you want the stock mapping cause you cant find it i can put it up fr download on mediafire and send you a link.
the stealth is plug and play, it just doesnt light up at all when you plug it in until youve loaded up the tsi. i thought my first 2 i owned were broken and returned them until i noticed.
If you are not using time code vinyl/cds you do not need ASIO much less ASIO4all. Merely, route the input/output of your sound blaster soundcard in Traktor’s configuration boxes and it will work.
Why would you not want to use ASIO drivers? The windows/creative native drivers run at horribly high latency, to the point where there can be a noticeable lag between pressing a button and the software responding. Cueing up a track when there’s a 1/4 beat gap is a pain in the ass. ASIO drivers are free and much improved. Furthermore, the signal/noise ratio of a non music specific sound card is likely to be disappointing.
OP, your best move would be to buy a DJ specific sound card like the Native Instruments Audio 2 DJ (aka Traktor Audio 2) for about $100. If that’s not an option, you can probably use your 5.1 soundblaster by itself. Using ASIO drivers, how many outputs show up? You probably want to use outs 1&2 for master, 3&4 for monitor (cue) but I don’t know the specifics of your interface.
EDIT: Re. the tsi file, as someone said, you can install the default one with the Traktor setup wizard, or find the tsi file in My Documents > Native Instruments > Traktor 2.0.3 > Settings > Default Settings > Controller > Numark. If you don’t like that tsi, look here: THE LIST - All User-Mappings of DJTT(server) I believe omni control mappings will also work with the stealth, but I’m not 100% sure.
You can adjust the Latency controls on a non-ASIO soundcard in Traktor’s Preference. The signal to noise ratio on a stock soundcard is based on Windows Drivers. If vanholst is using Windows XP Service Pack III, Windows Vista or Windows 7, the signal to noise ratio will not be a problem.
If vanholst would like to buy a sound card an ASIO would be best. However, vanholst can easily use the stock soundcard without ASIO4all if he is not using time coded vinyl/cds.
