Generic modding tips.

It’s ridicolusly powerful for a midi brain and could handle tons of inputs outputs. + it’s soo god damn cheap and i have to use it somehow.

But it doesn’t have any suitable connections…?

And I’m no expert but wouldn’t you’d need to install a minimal linux distro, find suitable software and compile it for ARM if it does exist and make it yourself if it does not and then you’d have to configure it all find a way to make it communicate with another computer nicely and eurgh. Sounds like an INCREDIBLE amount of work when you can just get an entire computer behave like a midi brain.
You’d still need to sort out the hardware side of it after that…

I really like the idea of using a Raspberry Pi in a midi project actually. I think it might be more useful to use in conjunction with something like an Arduino though:

I still find it very hard to believe you couldn’t find a suitable midi brain for equal cost that won’t require you to put anywhere near so much work into it.

why would it take any more time to program a Pi than to program a microprocessor like the Atmel in an Arduino? The Pi has far more programming langugages available for it so it would potentially be easier!

of course, if you’re talking about a Livid, Highly Liquid, UMC-32 or a similarly pre-programmed midi brain then that’s a different matter. But then you’re losing the flexibility and (generally speaking) paying a lot more.

Maybe you’re right. Now that I look again midi brains seem to cost a lot more than I remember them doing so…

no, that won’t work unless you find a way to hack the firmware of your Cuemaster to support RGB leds.

If you just want to have a static color around your buttons, it is possible to wire the leds so they get power from your Cuemaster.

i think hacking is about to go crazy. don’t want to spill the beans on what I am doing just yet, but it’s madd cheap, and I think everybody will want to do it.

would love to, but every time I “share” an idea. some compnay goes and builds it, and I get cut out of the loop. Just like the Numark Orbit, an idea I “shared” with numark. I’m just glad they got it wrong.
